Samsung 50" Plasma TV on HDTV with Dolby Digital surround sound. The sound is so clear I can hear the 5 Seahawk fans in the stadium complaining about the refs in the background.
-
nice bmc, i couldnt get mine in time. Though not as nice as yours i have the HD package coming but on a 38" DIP HD tv.
the 50 and even the 42" were a bit outa my price range. Decided to settle persay with the 38 and use the saved 3,000 to go on a nice couple of vacations.
but man o man the tv they showed me there was incredible, was a 42" plasma toshiba the cinematic edition.. it was their living showpiece one.. they had a discoery channel HD running.. it was incredible. I was completly in awe. I wanted that tv so bad but it was more expensive then your 50" prolly which is insane. The guy said its already decreased in price by ubsurd amounts.
was originally a 9,000 dolalr tv, now its 4200 or w.e. Talk about a mark up price upon its release eh? geez. -
best buy no financing for 3 years = $120/month for $4K plasma. Othewise, we would be reading books.
-
I love my big screen when it works, but my particular model has a burn out problem with the bulb where it lasts a shit poor amount of time.
Please everyone thinking about making a purchase such as this, join me and

you should've waited a few months when the "new chip" is made for TVs. rumor is that its better than plasma, guess we have to wait till it comes out. how do I know? AMAT just shipped their semi-conductors for those mofos
-
Plasma=wasted money
DLP = the best money can buy -
yeah plasma isn't worth it..im holding out. and i have a 54inch tv now, so I want like 60" and plasma isn't clear enough for me to drop that much money
-
god i feel better about my 38" DP then. i only bought it because he said it wont urnt out from playing video games on it.
but yeah bmc i decided no financing.. well actually they did since i have zero credit and no credit card. i get to carry the black briefcase in and pay cash for my new home theater. ;) rawr
but man i cant wait! best lazy boy recliner the store had on the floor i just had to buy. i picked up a wireless keyboard and mouse and i just plan to run the tv half and half. Hlaf screen as poker tabels running off my computer and other half my fav tv show's. no need to put my ehad on a swivel.. and with the new mini fridge why will i ever have to get up? Iam gonna incorporate a portable toilet somehow -
I don't really care what is the 'best available', because the best is always the newest most overpriced stuff available. My plasma is about 200 light years ahead of the magnet-stained JVC shitbox it replaced, so if it isn't fresh from the lab I don't care.
Come to my house & tell me the picture sucks, dare ya.....
PS: Goldeneye N64 on 50" Plasma = fuckin A -

let me know how long that lasts before you get a burn in.
Seriously if you play video games on your tv, Plasma is the last type of tv you want. -
What about LCDs? Can you play video games on those without any risk of long term damage???
-
WAK i'm pretty sure LCD's have the same risk of burn as plasma's but i may be wrong. When i bought my tv i did all the research on all types but that was 2 years ago. I'm too drunk right now to remember or to research it for you but i'll check it out tomorrow for you. i remember a great forum for questions on this type of stuff is avsforum.com.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it. I don't play all that much, but I do have the playstation hooked up to my LCD.
I'll check out the site you mentioned tomorrow. -
yes you do. lcds have that problem just not as badly as plasma but its still worse then DP and the original tv's.
-
Yeah, from the google search I did, lcd's do have burn in problems. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a DLP. No burn in problem plus the picture is better.

I got the Samsung 50" DLP...simply amazing!
