I'm really not to certain as to how I feel about it. But neither my father or mother called me today (my birthday) or even text me at the minimum to say happy birthday, or hope you have a good day, etc.

As far as I know I have a good relationship with both. And I think it would be kind of hard to forget my birthday being that I'm their child.
It really didn't even hit me until about 2 hours ago when I was at the bar with a few people and my girlfriend asked if I had talked to my parents and I said no. Then kind of thought how thats at least a little ridiculous. I'm not sure whether I should be genuinely saddened by this, or angry or what. At the moment i'm just aware that they haven't acknowledged that today was my birthday, and I'm not happy about it but i'm slightly indifferent, I guess.
Not sure if maybe this is something that happens as you get older or what? I don't know. -
As you get older birthdays become more of a countdown than a celebratory occasion. Besides if you're over 21 get over it.
-
That's def a shitty feeling. There's only those select few birthday wishes you even care about receiving and when they don't come through its gotta just leave an empty feeling.

And Nice Guy I pretty much agree. Which is why I'm not really angry or anything, just curious about it. I'm 24 now, and this is the first time it's happened. I'm more surprised than anything else. -
It would be totally weird if I didn't hear from my parents on my birthday.

get a job at target. they announce its your birthday at the team huddles so everybody wishes you happy birthday. I'm 38 and can say I haven't got a thing on my birthday in 4 years now(and 5-10 we would just go out to dinner).

friggin would hate that, cuz you get a bunch of people that feel they have to say hbd.
my company sends a message on the qualcomm(text message like device) saying hbd and im like wtf?
how do people know its gonna be a happy or shitty one? be better if they say hope you have a hbd then hbd. just annoying -
happy bday sir
-
still 45 minutes left (EST)..............
hbd -
i would feel like shit as i have a good relationship with my parents/family. hell i feel a lil down if some of my friends dont wish me it on the day of it (close friends ldo)
-
Hmfbd
How has no one made a RyJS'sDad/Mom level account yet? ffs -
Look on the bright side. At least you have a girlfriend and werent alone.
Btw only cool ppl were born on Nov 15. *cough* -
Birthdays are a huge deal to my Dad. He will at least make a call to all his brothers and sisters on their birthdays without fail. So its a big deal on our family. One year my sister failed to call me on my birthday. And my Dad still wont let her forget it 6 or 7 years later.

sAME BOAT AS op. No OT b-day props either :(
-
meh I doubt I'd care my I'm not very sentimental. In fact I don't think they called me this year. I spent my last day in New Orleans on my birthday so I don't think they bothered me. Obviously I had dinner with them the next night when I returned though.
And even though I said I'm not sentimental I still always call my parents on their birthdays just because I think I'd feel like an ass if I didn't. -
Yeah I would feel pretty sad if my parents forgot my birthday. It partially depends on the relationship with the person, but for my parents to not call me I assume it would mean they were really upset with me about something.
My "best friend" (obviously that term is kind of hard to define, but my best friend in high school) never calls on my birthday or emails or anything and I don't give a shit (I don't call him usually on his either), but it's just because that's the relationship we have. -
goddamn man. Now I am all sad.
happy b-day bro. -

Happy birthday RyJs
On my 20th birthday, I was at my mom's house (July 3rd bday, so home for summer vacation), and she didn't wish me happy birthday. I was home all day until I went out with my friends that night. She wished me happy birthday the next day (July 4th) when we had family over for lunch. She got the "hah whatever" reply.
As in SpankyHamm's case, I've used it as guilt leverage, and I have never let her forget it.
Also, pre-HBD SpankyHamm.
