    High school senior James Tate made no secret he wanted to go to prom with Sonali Rodrigues; the writing was literally on the wall. And it's for that reason he's now banned from the event.

    Tate and his friends snuck onto Shelton High School grounds one night last week to tape up hand-cut cardboard letters in a message that read: "Sonali Rodrigues, will you go to prom with me? HMU (Hit me up) - Tate," WFSB reports.

    For his efforts, he was rewarded with a "yes" from Rodrigues, followed by in-school suspension and banishment from prom.

    Meh prom itself is easily one of the lamest "coming of age" events in my life. After prom was quite a bit of fun and it is also where I found my first piece of ass...but the prom itself is a waste of time and money.

    I was totally in favor of banning him from prom, until I read this part. He wore a helmet for god's sake. Let him go to prom.

    my high school principal was a women as well and she had an ego problem. Our nickname was the Indians and even the local indians did not care. They said they were honored to have a high school with a nickname.

    She would ban us wearing indian garb to football games and threatened to suspend me from school cause i would start the tomahawk chant at games.

    Eventually the school changed its name to the eagles. Fn bitch is the one who started it all.

    i tell ya...i luv women...but the ones i have dealt with in management and high authority positions can be really hard to work with. They often remind me of short men in positions of power with a Napolean like complex.

    anyhow...is this Shelton, Wa.?

    obviousely the kids should be allowed to go to prom. If its a trespassing issue then give them detention and after school work.

    From the pictures it looked like paint so I was thinking fk this kid, ban him but if they are fkn cardboard letters, my fk what a joke

    And, yea prom sucks, went 2x, don't really remember sht from them (wasn't drunk or high, they are just meh)

    Definitely an overreaction. WP on the guys part though. Everyone knows dudes only go to Prom for 2 reasons:

    1) Support the girl they are into.
    2) Get into the girl they are into.

    So basically, he made the gesture. He doesn't HAVE to go, and number 2 probably works itself out now because of the gesture.

    i agree, this situation is just getting way out of hand. for gods sake, it was on the front page of the CT Post yesterday and theres even a website for this kid to go to prom.. I just think its crazy that this shit made nat'l headlines for such a small and unimportant gesture..obv the kid should be able to go to prom and im sure he will with all of the support hes getting...shit, i think he even made an appearance on jimmy kimmel or fallon.
