  1. 65 mph storm winds are nothin, I drive faster then that so I'm not worried.
  2. 115 mph tho
  3. Yea, they have estimated rain totals on the coastal areas here in the 11-13" range, going to be awful on the east here.
  4. yea, im sure everyones local news is all over the place. I heard 6-8" rain and 85mph winds.

Its gonna suck... thats all I know.
  5. I literally just went on the weather channel website, checked the storms path, and is supposed to smash into Ocean County as a Cat 1 Hurricane (65mph). Unless they changed it in the last 3 mins, I'm not scared.
  6. Well yea, im not scared either. I just got in a argument with my parents trying to get their asses to relax.

My mom is retarded when it comes to the weather.
  7. 8-12 inches of rain here plus the ocean and bay rising is something to worry about for me.

Especially with a two year old.
  8. Everyone bitched about the idiots who stayed in New Orleans during Katrina.

You have several days to get out of the way of this. Put your collective dicks back into your pants and GTFO.

  11. no comparison. Katrina was a cat 5 and slammed into a punchbowl. They knew what was going to happen

I would understand if we lived in one of the costal countys, but we dont. We would probably need 3 feet of rain before out house floods.

go stay at a hotel somehwere inland... that's what i'd be doing right now.
  14. I know, but still I always find it difficult to muster sympathy for people who have days to get out harms way and then complain when it's worse than expected.

Great point for the storm surge. They estimate landfall 2:00p or so Saturday for the Beaufort/Carteret area and low tide is 12:27p, that will help some.

  22. Where I live the bay high tide can be a few feet higher than low tide and the drainage system around me sucks.

The last time we had a bad storm, it thunderstormed hard for like 5 or 6 hours, dumped maybe 3 inches of rain and there was at leasta foot of water in the road.

    So yea, it does matter.

  23. Dee Dee wont leave the house(long beach island, NJ), hope a boat hits her.

My 89 year old grandmom just had to leave her house. three blocks from delaware bay in cape may.
  24. shit. I just got back from work (theyre debating staying open for tomorrow) and heard that they are shutting down all the power in Ocean City. Evac starts at 8am tomorrow so I gotta pack up my shit now.

Btw, while I was at work, the landlords degen grandson moved our patio furniture into the house. Now me and my roommates massive change jar ($500 worth that we saved all summer for AC) is missing.
  25. im in atlantic county nj and im not taking any chances...my brother lives in columbus ohio so im using this as a chance to have a little vacation for the weekend with some family and ive been wanting to meet my brothers puppy golden retriever...hopefully when i come back next week there will still be a roof on the house

  27. Ummm I wouldnt worry about the wind, i would worry about the rain.

Ive been through a bunch of them including Andrew and I fucking hate them, fuck hurricanes...Anyone talking about hurricane parties and shit hasn't been through a real one, they can fuck up your life for weeks...months

Anyone who is not evacuating make sure you got your supplies, dont take it ,lightly. better to be prepared thent be fucked if your house floods and power goes out. Best of luck. You are talking about an obscene amount of rain in an extremely short period of time.

Katrina was a cat 3 the major issue was levee system that completely failed.

This storm is no joke if it actually hits its projected path.

It is true the first day or so after Katrina in New Orleans it wasn't that bad. It wasn't until the levees broke that all hell broke loose

Funny thing is that when I was little I used to be very into tornadoes and hurricanes. I had this National Geographic video on them. Last 10 minutes of the video spoke about what would happen if a major hurricane hit New Orleans. They had computer mock ups of the levees breaking and widespread destruction...pretty much predicted it to the t.

Also above when I said don't worry the wind, that is mostly in reference to those saying it will come in as a cat 1 which it very well may. If it comes in anywhere with over 100mph, then I would definitely be worrying about the wind. Not to mention the tornadoes. They are not tornadoes in the traditional sense...there are many more of them and they are much quicker in duration. In my neighborhood after Andrew there were random houses or lines of houses that were leveled and the house next to it just had medium damage because of these quick, smaller tornadoes
