gut says eagle... needs research tho
-
rather close battle really, unless the eagle is able to deal a death blow with the first strike it loses its advantage.
given you state honey badger knows its coming and thusly no chance of surprise.
hmmmm, prolly gonna go 3-2-2(both die) in favor of honey badger.
honey badger will get struck first everytime but will be able to latch onto the eagle and the eagle will be screwed pretty much given the honey badger thick hide so its talons will be less effective and the badger's tougher claws and mouth will allow it a very good chance to take the eagle down in close quarters.
the way both die is badger latches on eagle tries flying away, badger kills eagle mid flight and badger dies when connects with ground -

If the Honey badger knows it is coming they will both die all 7 times. Mostly because the diving speed of the eagle will pierce the badger causing a lethal blow, then the death throes of the badger will kill the eagle.
(Although the qualifier that they honey badger knows it is coming is invalid seeing as the eagle would stalk him far out side his viewing range.) -
nice doesn't the eagle typically use its claws to pick up and drop its victims to kill them?
it doesn't really use its talons or beak to dive bomb, i don't think. the bird your thinking of is the peregrine falcon.
given these two factors the death strike your referring to wouldn't kill the badger it would only wound.
also pretty sure the honey badgers hide and fur would take much of the damage so any damage from the strike would be lowered. -
Listen, this is a hypothetical. Let's not ruin the conversation with "facts" or "the truth" or "common sense", eagle 2k12, top predator, undefeated, 7 ties. Let's go.

I just figured that the Eagle would just straight up talon pin it by its neck a large percentage of the time. Air superiority. I mean why do the wolves run from them in that video if it makes more sense to hold your ground. Instinct? Or aybe they are they trying to get out of the open.

both survival instinct is avoid a fight unless you have a distinct advantage, in the brush which would hurt the eagles flight advantage but even then a wolf would most likely avoid the fight as it has to great a risk to injure the wolf with too little reward. eagles don't have a ton of meat in comparative to the risk associated with fighting one.
in the scenario presented fight or flight was not given as an option as such you assume they will fight to the death. -
Hb all day. C'mon son
