I drove a Forester for a few years and loved it, great car to drive - very comfortable.
-
I valet cars for a living and have found that out of all the cars on the midrange level, the Impreza kills the Mazda, Honda, and Toyota. I won't even list any domestic cars because they're shit except for Fords. Ford has made a run like no other lately however I need the AWD for snowboarding in the winter. So far, I love this car, my wife and I drove up to Mt. Laguna on Sunrise Hwy last night and watched the Perseids Meteor Shower through the sunroof with the seat heaters on. Pretty epic. If I had the FJ the OP has, I'd taken the backtrail to the top of the mountain and watched from there.

About the replies I expected. Just a little background. November will be my 25th wedding anniversary. I bought this car for my wife (hence silver, silver anniversary). Thats what she wanted, i could afford it (barely), so that is what she got.
In my opinion it is butt ugly. I already tried to get her to paint the top silver.
For the people who said rough ride or some of those other cars are better. Well not that Subaru. I did a lot of research and the FJ holds up real well. It has three problems. Bad gas mileage, Blinds spots, and an anti braking system not suited for a car this size.
She likes it and that is all that matters to me. I did wonder how many people thought it was butt ugly though. -
remember, neutral + parking break
-
I don't think it is "butt ugly". But I'm old married with hella kids so my brain and taste has gone to shit years ago.
-
It's not a bad vehicle at all. From what I have heard the blind spots are the worst part. And people in the back seats can't see a thing. Regardless, I would hope that Toyota took enough pride in the FJ series to ensure that this model holds up as well as the previous generations. I drive an FJ80 and am hard pressed to think of another sport utility that I would take in trade.
