wow, mupp... I probably would have puked all over the HR lady when hearing the news. That had to be an awful feeling. Hopefully it all works out and there are no repercussions.
Also, it's pretty fucking sad when email is the means of communication for something so important. Pathetic. -
It is terrible when people's lives are disrupted for no good reason and due to nothing they have done. I am sorry you are having to go through this. I am sure that you will be able to straighten it out with the help of a good attorney.

Learn the phrase: "I'm pretty sure legal will have a field day with this. Maybe you should run this new information by them first to save the hospital time and money and make yourself look like a hero for bringing this to their attention before they bring it to yours. Just saying."
Fuck hr.
Last day of residency follow her home, come back at midnight, park a few blocks away on a sidestreet and walk over with ski mask and too small gloves on slash her tires. All of them.Originally Posted by 2Slick4u

Is there no way that all of us OT hate-mongers can't punish this pathetic moran bish somehow without getting MUPP in further hot water? If this had happened where I live I would gladly confront this cunt away from her job in a way that would leave an extremely long-lasting impression, not to mention some scarring in and around the head. Repercussions would never be the fucking same for her!!!! sh;deaslkjdsa;flasdkf;laskdfj
And, oh yeah, glad to hear this insanity is going to get stopped before it screws up your life, brah.
(I know someone will edit this to something cruel and classless but that is uncalled for. Cough.) -
Sounds like you actually ran good.

Absolutely this. Let us get 4chan on the case. She will never smirk like that again.
I really am incredulous at this story. It is shit like this, seriously, that has put me on the life path I am on. I vowed never to give myself to a corporation if I could at all help it. I will need to take a corporate gig after grad school to get my feet (and a good idea) under me before I move into my own technology venture. Basically do the "intrapreneur" thing before the entrepreneur thing.
My point is that I have such a jaundiced view of working for the man, and it is stories like this that confirm that view to the nth degree. And to be honest, its one of the major reasons I decided not to be a doctor. In my family, it was expected of me. My Dad, Mom, and younger brother are all doctors (well, brother is a year away). But having to live and breathe and move in such a stifling bureaucracy never appealed to me. I experienced enough of that vis-a-vis my Dad, who ran the ER at Rush in Chicago for some years. Fuck, the stories I'd hear. And now that my wife is a nurse, I get stories there too.
Highly trained medical personnel have a high propensity towards fucking viciousness. And, by extension, HR (in a lot of cases) as well. The people in charge in this case seem so fucking wrapped up in policy and procedure. Yet, they fail to follow their own policy and procedure in the way they handled this.
I would hope, that if I gave five good years in the prime of my life to an entity, that the people within that entity would have a little bit of compassion. And by that I mean, simple communication.
I just don't get it. I suppose its being a city boy transplanted to the country, and really living those midwest morals people talk about. Around here, you wave at people as you walk in to pay for gas. You smile at the attendant. You say thank you when the Steak and Shake lady hand your steakburger. Etc etc.
In the same way, if I was in anyway connected to the process of firing a highly trained doctor who has done great things for my organization for something as infinitesimal as a mistimed TB test, then I sure as shit would COMMUNICATE.
Not a faceless email. But a phone call. A page. A certified letter. Until I got ahold of you. Because, I would presume, you have a family, a mortgage, bills to pay, loans out the arse. And it would be the decent thing to do to make sure you knew about making sure you were aware of the need for compliance in some small area completely unrelated to job performance. -
Nice post abnormal, still, waiting until he has his new post residency job started first thennnnn you have plenty of time to plan. Being labeled a complainer before you get a job is a setback you don't need.
Plus with time passed she will have absolutely no idea when it's time to recall the details to defend herself. This is the game they play also. They try to nail you for shit at hospitals for stuff that happened 6 months ago. (my wife is a clinical nurse specialist.)
they tried to get her fired while on maternity leave! Apparently they just wanted her to beg for her job back. I went in with her and he felt like an ass after the grilling he got. Mustve been a disappointment that he couldn't pick on the sheepish shy woman. Dick. As a result she got a new supervisor and boss above him too. It's good to have people above bosses who like you a lot more and take your word over the boss lol. Network people! -
This is why I decided against getting a medical degree and chose to be a 6-year communications major.

I figured after a few pages someone would start talking about retribution for the HR lady. While I get that it's meant to be in support of Mupp, it's obv not in his best interest to get involved. I assume people aren't actually going to go forward with anything. However, all it takes is one person that doesn't like you in OT to really fuck with your job/career. Ask any of the Oters on here that it's happened to.
The thing is with OT, it's not all that anonymous(like many message boards are). Alot of people are FB friends, etc. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I kinda cringe when well known pple post too much personal info these days. Yeah, it makes for a good read and yeah, 99.9% of people are supportive- just my 2 cents -
Lol at retribution being real. It's just a joke, he obv spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a career he isn't throwing away over nothing. These are just fantasies.
Btw Chaz pm'ed and said his 10k he stole here bought some awesome steaks this weekend. He said "you should have come by." -
agree totally. i am certain everybody that is saying something should be done (physical, emotional, or otherwise) to the HR lady is joking. i'd be content with just an apology, but i'm certain that will never happen either.

Hence my saying 99.9%...and saying I'm prolly paranoid about shit like that. I just know people have fucked w/ Ess and WAR on here.

Yeah somebody from here came and raped my neighbor's cat last week. Just kidding, that was me. Carry on.

Yeah, that six month later thing is the pits. My wife has been working the ICU for a year now, and I have already heard about this happening to coworkers multiple times (though its not quite as bad, each story I've heard is related to a nurse who wants to move from the current floor, to a new dept., but the nurse manager is a selfish bitch, and she doesnt want to have to go through the rigmarole of hiring a new nurse, training them up, etc., so she manufactures minor transgressions going months back until enough points are accrued or whatever that the nurse is not allowed to leave for another floor for a year, when the points clear their record).

because that would involve compassion -
I think mrs. mupp should leave you. oh sorry, this has nothing to do with this thread, or you. I was just daydreaming...

Man, that woulda been one long assed, ugly, drawn out, wrongful termination suit. Love how they make it sound like they're doing you a solid. Don't be surprised if they somehow throw it back in your face at some point in the future. If they do, just make sure to remind them of how much their "decision" saved the hospital in legal fees.

Congrats on hearing that the OP title was a temporary situation.
Order up a nice bag 'o shit for that HR staffer. -
Out of curiousity what kind of doctor and how much will your entire education cost? In terms of books and tuition and other supplies?
-
i'm a radiologist. my loans from med school and undergrad are at just over $200,000, which doesn't include interest. we fortunately can defer the loans until after residency, but the interest is accruing, so I think there's been like $25k that has accrued in the last 4 years.

wow, SFrigged. hope it works out mupp.
-
Mupp didn't realize he had been on double secret probation.
-
awful situation, hope everything works out the way it should.
sometimes im happy im not dealing with healthcare anymore but then again i keep thinking about getting back into it uhg.
when you finish your residency and this place offers you a job you can just be like " chyea.. remember that one time.... cccya" -
Mupp I sincerely wish you the best. Hopefully, when this all blows over you can look back at this time and think "wow, it was nice to get away from the grind for a few days".
-
I was getting pissed off just reading the first few paragraphs. As I was reading, I was thinking that there's no possible way they would fire you for this and I can't believe they almost did. Fire someone on the last year of his residency after all of the schooling, money, and time over not getting a TB test on time. So glad it worked out for you. That would have been extremely unfair and horrible.
-
poor mupp. at least you have time for poker lol
-
I think once everything is settled, you should knock on this lady's door, pop your head in and say in a serious tone "oh hey, thanks for all your help."
-
posting all of this on a public forum with details about your company procedures/badmouthing HR and whoever doesnt seem like a great idea considering you need to get this wiped off your record, no? not tryin to be a dick
-
I can't believe infection control wasn't all over you the last few weeks. I get hunted down every year for this. They don't want to fire anybody over a TB test. Infection control nurse should be begging for your forgiveness.
