  1. A hospital owes him $500k for helping them advertised and because they are in so much debt, he doesn't want the money...and will continue to help them for free.

  2. If he was helping them for free in the first place it would be a lot more admirable.
  3. lol I thought the same thing when I read the article.

  4. very classy of him, nice to hear something like this.

still hate him for being a NY Giants Football player tho
  5. Isn't hospitals run as businesses over there?

Wouldn't this be pretty much the same as Eli saying no to Toyota's money or something like that?
  6. Thats pretty cool...

I don't like the Giants but always find myself kind of cheering for Eli... I hope him and Peyton sit around and Eli fucks with him about "who is the better qb" since they both got one ring ya know...
  7. Class act
  8. So basically he got 500k of the 1 million and turned down the last payment because he already got paid some? Sure sounds like getting paid for what shouldve been charity work to start with.

Well, except that hospitals generally help people while Toyota's generally kill people. So doing something nice for hospitals is probably a decent thing.

it doesnt sound like that at all... the Cleveland Clinic runs commercials all the time bragging about how they are the place the Browns Indians and Tribe come to...

I have atleast 3 choices in hospitals around my area... they are trying to persuade me to come there for the "best care" just like BurkerKing wants me to go there for the "best burger"

they arent a non profit organization or a charity or even close to it... and they arent run that way either...

That's what I was thinking - is this a for-profit hospital or not?

And fk all the haters out there telling people what they should be doing . . . how much charity work do you do with hospitals?

Also, wtf would a hospital need with advertising unless it was a for-profit?

  13. you guys are all idiots, at least those saying he should be doing it for free

what he does it free for one hosp, then all the others come pressuring and begging
  14. OK, so other icons see this and now think, "Shit, I better take that million-dollar offer from Mastercard instead of Hospital X. People will just expect me to not accept the hospital's money, or portray me as a greedy fuck if I do take it."

Really nice move by Eli but the people who think he owes the hospital anything are just out of their mind.
  15. Its for profit normally but losing millions of dollars and he knows that. When he knew that I don't know. It's not like he doesn't have a $100 million contract to fallback on. He should probably be thinking of them like players donate time to united way.
But I don't hold it against him since there was a contract either side could have passed on.

WP if this is some multifaceted epic level, but...

    Are you fucking serious?

Because he has 'enough money' he should just donate his time for free? What's the threshold? Pretty sure you were all up in arms when Obama was suggesting mandatory volunteer service, right?
  17. Eli Manning = the Chris Moneymaker of football. "hits the 1 outer with 30 seconds to go"...mbn to run good

your statement has nothing to do with this thread, and you also couldn't be more wrong.

Right because we are forcing him to do mandatory charity work. Horrible analogy. Nobody said he had to do anyhing, he still has a choice. Obamas plan is not optional.
I'm sure he does do charity work already and he already does for profit endorsements too. It's not his only gig. I don't really carrrrre I'm just saying it coullllllld reflect better as charity work when they are horribly in debt.
but if gettig paid is the #1 priority here (and not sick people) go to a hospital then that's not broke. he would be the type of guy the people working at charities are calling forrrr donations.
it also means higher costs for healthcare if that's the standard play there.
    such over reactionaments. Lolll.
