Iran has maybe the best reputation of any country in the world among travelers. Easily in my top 5 countries I want to visit

Thanks, now the secret service is watching P5's!

Amused by the youtube user name of the video..afghijackersexposed.

obv there gov't is a crazy, but...
to play devil's advocate, how would our border patrol react if two iranian randoms were caught crossing the boarder in from canada or near it? i don't think it would obv be as bad as what happened to them, but there would surely be people up in arms and who would hear about it and want to throw them in guantamo.
ftr, i think US is 100x better place to live than Iran. -
Cool video. I stand corrected. Iran's citizens look pretty cool imo but the theocracy crap is way fucking weird.
-
agree with the theocracy being crap. it is kinda interesting to see the history of how it came to be tho. it seems (i want to read more about it) that it is prob at least in part a response to the rule of the shah who we put in place by force.
i am not too informed about that stuff tho, so im not really sure all of what happened except basically from half watching the part in this video series. -
Edited By: zeppelinzoso16 Jan 23rd, 2012 at 06:39 AMThink I have tried to make that point a dozen times on here. Foreigners donșt hate American people, they donșt like our government or our policies. They are capable of separating government from people.Originally Posted by AmSlim22

Not sure if they are currently issuing visas to Americans. I was in Turkey during the Iranian elections about 32 months ago. Once the protests started I know they stopped giving visas to Americans at that time. Donșt know if they are giving visas again, have not looked into it. I have a lot of European friends who have been to Iran since then. It is possible that Americans have to be on a tour, donșt know.

Not sure what you mean by trust the visa. If they issued the visa it would be legitimate. However, you would have to keep track to make sure the policy does not change. Of course I would go to Iran if I had the visa. The safety of visiting Iran is not a concern for me. -
We had an Iranian family in my hometown that had 3 smoking hot daughters. My sister was friends with the youngest and she was the first "exotic" woman I jerked it too. She was 5 years older than me and always flirted(jokingly) with me. Never saw her after she graduated but shes still on my fucket list.

Zepp,
Ot's most likely sleeper. -
Having been born in Iran but living here in the U.S. most of my life, I have to say that it's a shame that our governments have such hostility towards each other. I think Americans would really appreciate what Iran has to offer in terms of it's people, nature, food, etc. I go back to visit every 3-4 years and it sucks coming back each time because I naturally become so attached to my culture. I'm obv biased, but it truly is a unique culture, and the people are one-of-a-kind.
Sadly, the economy is currently struggling there as well, and Iran is pretty much only worth visiting for a short duration... living there for an extended time would be really difficult imo. -
Wow! Nice video's, seriously!
-
I work with a guy from Iran. He says he can't go back but would love too. He tells great stories about how the country was before the mullahs took over. He even looks like the character from House of Sand and Fog. HOpe you make it there Zepp...
-
Good point. If Americans were able to travel there right now they'd get amazing value for the dollar. In Iran, the value of the rial/toman has gone from 1300 or so for every dollar to around 1800 in just a few months. It's really bad.
-
I don't!!!! and i hate life and basically everything. only thing that could make it worse would be me going to Iran.

One wonders what kind of world might result from an American President issuing an official apology to Iran and the rest of the Middle East, bringing all of our troops home and announcing to the world that in the future we will try to lead by example through free trade, diplomacy and peace and our hope is that the rest of the world follows us there.

just finished video, his closing is pretty cool
Ișve been wondering to what extent the USA-Iran tensions might be explained by caring people on both sides motivated by love and fear, and the flip side of fear is understanding -
it really is a little depressing that everything is a power struggle it seems and while awful things have been done, if everybody would just take a step back and say that mistakes were made and let's really try to actually fix it. there are so many people that suffer bc of their gov'ts. most people do, to varying degrees.
it just seems u gain power by labelling somebody an "other" and then using that fear of the "other" to consolidate power.
i dunno, just babbling, but the world really needs to right itself.
yea, i liked how he said that the flip side of fear is understanding. -
Edited By: Superleggera Jan 23rd, 2012 at 08:04 AMTrust me when I say that she represents the ideology of the majority of Iran's youth. I was there 7-8 months ago and was very impressed about how up-to-date they are on America and the West in general. Granted, most of my opinion is based on interacting with college-aged friends of my cousins (similar to the girl you're referring to in the video), but it's pretty obvious that the educated young people are open-minded and very aware of the political climates in Iran and abroad.Originally Posted by winwin07

On a side note, it's every young Iranian's dream to go America/Europe and pursue their education. -
99.99 of iranians are smart happy loving people anybody would be lucky to get to know. Then there is the fuckwads in their goverment.
