  1. Thank you to all who have served.

I'll fly any helicopter but a Chinook
  2. Doubt I'm being a coward by avoiding the draft.
More like I dint give 2 shits about living here. I could live most anywhere in the world, Australia and England seem nice, along with Canada....
Why would I put my risk and my future familys wellbeing on some war that I most likely won't give 2 shits about either.
Doubt I'm a fuckin coward, I'm just not brainless

  3. Well im already in the Airforce, and in 3 months will be the local recruiter in Biloxi MS. IF I had any choice though im like 99% sure it would be the "Special Air Service" pretty much the most bad ass mother fuckers on planet earth.

ironic you say so, Australia and England are only countries at the very moment cuz we saved them from fascism, and by we i mean american and canadian men and women who either volunteered or were drafted to go fight to defend their families and their country. WE as americans are the luckiest people in the world, we have everything we could possibly need to live and be mostly happy. we have cars, jobs, houses, we dont get robbed every day, your girlfriend/wife isnt taken and sold into prostitution, and we dont get bombed and killed just cuz people dont agree with our beliefs (as much as other countries). your kids (future kids cuz you look 17) will have an education and will be able to always get medical help whenever they need it. but you take all that stuff for granted. No one wants to get drafted, if they did they would have volunteered. but when the country that has given you everything you have, everything your parents had, asks you to step up and return the favor, youre gonna run? grow some fucking balls, the rest of the people who said they'd dodge im not cool with either, but when you put "more like i dont give 2 shits about living here" it makes me sick. good luck moving to england, people there have always fought to defend their country, and its an island so you cant run when they ask. france sounds to me like a perfect place for you, generally its a country full of pussies, so you'd fit right in. the only good news is that if we ever did need to draft, it would probably be in a war against china, and i pray to god if they do invade they invade whatever part of California youre in, and when they do, dont run to alabama. cowards/pussies arent welcome here.

    GTFO. end rant

ill shorten it up for ya....

You implied that someone who serves their country is brainless. Confirm it or clarify it. Otherwise, GFY and GTFO.
  8. After 3 pages I am surprised no has has mentions torture specialist. I always wanted to get paid to stick bamboo shoots in finger nails, waterboard and all that fun stuff we have seen in the saw movies. Maybe i am just sick bust this seems like fun. Oh well I guess I just have to wait for world war 3 and Hope I am still young enough to get drafted. By the way I am only half seriuous the other half of me is really drunk right now. :)

serving ur country is very honorable and respectful
however, being FORCED to serve ur country when you dont wont to is not honorable.
i apologize if thats how it sounded, i have a ton of respect for those who willingly serve their country.
its just not for me, and i will not do it. not because im a coward, but because, i dont want to.

my apologies then....i didnt respond to your comment at 1st because i was unsure if thats what you meant but when you didnt clarify it after being called out I jumped to conclusions

You should be thankful that you live in a country that gives you so much and does NOT require service, like so many other countries do.
  12. All depends on what the draft was for. China on the doorstep, sign me up. go make Iraq a democracy, no thanks

  14. It really is a shame that those who say "no way in hell I LET myself get drafted", weren't born in a country that requires a mandatorymilitary service period after high school. I'd love to see how they handled that little inconvenience to their future.

I think it all just depends on the circumstances onem. I think a lot of people picture vietnam when they think of a draft. Or they think about what we did in Iraq.

I think if Russians or Chinese were invading the U.S. the results would be different from people.

if we ever get invaded, there would be no need for a draft...probably no need to even fire a bullet as the nukes would most probably be flying asap
  18. well duh. but this is a hypothetical thread where no details are given yet people are freaking out left and right when people say they'd dodge a draft.

Right or wrong, when people think draft they think fighting a pointless combat action in Vietnam, not saving the world from Hitler.

yes, it truly is a shame that they are born in a country that doesn't essentially enslave its own citizens. awesome point.

if there was ever a draft, it would mean that the shit has hit the fan, but i can see how that wasnt clear, however it was merely a question about jobs in the military, those "dodgers" could've just said "make me a cook" or a mechanic or something like that, had no idea that this question would spark up people's patriotism. but god bless america

    Except women are exempt.
  26. Not from Intelligence? I believe we are still exempt from nuclear stuff, though.
  27. I was of the understanding that males sign up for selective service for the purpose of a possible draft. Do females also do that at 18?

    Exemption of women

Currently, the law exempts women from registration.[32] The issue of women being exempted was addressed and approved in 1981 by the United States Supreme Court in Rostker v. Goldberg, with the Court holding "The existence of the combat restrictions clearly indicates the basis for Congress' decision to exempt women from registration. The purpose of registration was to prepare for a draft of combat troops. Since women are excluded from combat, Congress concluded that they would not be needed in the event of a draft, and therefore decided not to register them."[33]
At the request of President Bill Clinton, the Department of Defense reviewed the issue, but concluded that the exclusion remains justifiable in light of past draft results.[32]

    Not anymore.

The first women to serve on U.S. Navy submarines are expected to be on the job by fall of 2011, Navy officials said Thursday, ushering in a policy change to what has been an elite service open only to men since the start of the modern Navy's submarine program.

While Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced the change last month, the Navy had to wait for Congress to review and approve the policy change over a 30-day period which ended at midnight Thursday morning.
The official announcement came later Thursday from the commander of Submarine Group 10, Rear Adm. Barry Bruner, during a news conference at the Navy submarine base at Kings Bay, Georgia.

The first women chosen for the program will be selected by the Navy among upcoming graduates from the Naval Academy, the collegiate Reserves Officer Training Corps -- also known as ROTC -- and officer candidate schools.
Those women will go through the intensive 15-month submarine officer training program, which includes nuclear power school, submarine training, and the Submarine Officer Basic Course.

The Navy will implement the policy change by assigning three female officers to eight different crews of guided-missile attack and ballistic-missile submarines. The assignments involve two submarines on the East Coast and two on the West Coast, according to Navy officials.

Smaller, fast-attack submarines are considered to be too small to accommodate the necessary infrastructure change in living quarters that is possible on the larger subs, Navy officials explained.
Integrating female officers into the submarine squadrons is the first phase of the policy change. Including female enlisted sailors into the crews will take place in a second phase in the coming years, the officials said.
Women joined the crews of the Navy's surface ships in 1994, but officials had previously cited limited privacy and the cost of reconfiguring the vessels in arguing against their joining sub crews.

The change in policy was recommended by the top naval officer, Adm. Gary Roughead; the secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus; and Gates. No Navy leaders opposed the plan, officials said.
"The young women that have come up to me since we announced our intention to change the policy have such great enthusiasm," Roughead said in a statement Thursday.

"There are extremely capable women in the Navy who have the talent and desire to succeed in the submarine force," Mabus added in the same statement.
Women make up 15 percent of the active duty Navy: 52,446 of 330,700 sailors in the service, according to Navy statistics.

Female sailors still cannot serve in the elite SEAL program, because those are considered frontline combat unit positions. Similar regulations in the other branches of the military also prevent women from serving in combat positions.

The only place they cant serve anymore. hahaha

  29. Dammit! Ah, is it possible to do intelligence for the SEALs at least? Probably the closest I could get.
  30. Yes. They always have an Intel Officer and 2-4 IS's that deploy with them.
