  2. side note: niptuck is the frigginnnnnn man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. GOV'T control my HEALTH???? No way man!!! I want some global corporation to control it!!!1!
  4. Another brilliant post. "The evil corporations...being all corporationy."
  5. It's free! It's free!
  6. Preach on Niptuck.
  7. The evil government...being all governmentry.
  8. Whenever I negotiate my hospital bills I go to the administrators office with a paper bag. I sit across from his desk and start emptying the contents of my bag on his desk, a bottle of Jack Daniels, a telephone book, a wrench, and a gun.
  9. In layman's terms, I love niptuck.
  10. Niptuck, whats wrong with the government running your healthcare system The Police, Fire Service, Army, post offices, schools, librarys, refuse, council services etc already are. The advantage is that the are able to provide the service based on need rather than your ability to pay.

Anyone in doubt should see Michael Moore's Sicko
  11. "Thank you Iroquois. Are there any other weak-minded people here today who might be brainwashed by one of my shitty movies?"

  12. I want a Health Savings Account. Are they going to take these away in the next few years?
  13. Is Denmark's health care system okay, or is that bad too
  14. lolz

Sicko and Indepenence Day = 2 fine documentaries
  15. Nevermind, I have a different question. If this does happen where will those of us that can afford to pay for surgery go??? and therefore where will the best doctors go? The best surgeons won't stay, but I think Brazil is beautiful, maybe we'll all go to Rio.
  16. Too often I see posts like this, either its the extreme this or the extreme that. In Norway you get everything for free. You can go to a goverment run hospital, or a private one. The goverment will pay most of the bill if you chose a private one, but you pay some yourself. Its a good system IMO, because people who are poor gets help, and if you want better help you pay a little more.

The waiting lists in the goverment run hospitals are very long tho. But when the goverment helps you pay the private hospital bill, its something that most people can afford.
  17. "brainwashed"...friend, I live in London, we have universal health care so thats kinda the reason I support it.
  18. "Its a good system IMO, because people who are poor gets help, and if you want better help you pay a little more."

lol, that's not very liberal. obama won't go for that.
  19. So in other words, Norwegian hospitals are the shit when it comes to fixing up bloody schlongs with broken pieces of Coke bottles sticking in them?
  20. lol. That didnt really come out the way I ment it. We used to have only goverment run hospitals, but then they started allowing private hospitals. When you go get an operation at a private hospital, the goverment pays as much as they esstimate the cost would be at theire hospital. Usually this will cover just about the whole bill.
  21. I think HSA's are probably safe for a while, even if we start down this path it will take time. I have an HSA, it pretty well sucks but oh well.
  22. Meh, I think there are enough Democrats against single payer (myself included) that it won't get off the ground. It's gonna wind up failing in Congress, and states are gonna have to pick up the slack.
  23. ok, maybe im making this too easy, dont shoot bc maybe i dont fully understand

    but

why couldnt we have governmental health care for all the ppl who are poor/in transition periods in their lives/cant afford actual solid health care, and those ppl have to wait in line etc

    AND

also have regular health care for those who make better choices in life where we can get the best coverage and care by paying for it and no waiting in line

am i retarded to think that we could have a system that benefited both the poor and the not poor?
  24. Its the best system I can think of except one where there are no waiting lines, and everything is free without adding anything to your taxes
  25. Cmoney3, we have that for the poor-

Medicaide, Emergency Rooms for the poor and illegals and uninsured

  26. Let's not bring the facts of the rest of the civilized world into the argument.
  27. niptuck... you do realize how EXPENSIVE Emergency Room care is, don't you?

Relying on the ER to serve people who could be treated perfectly normally if they had access to regular health care costs the system BILLIONS, and yes each of us carries a part of that burden either through taxes or the spiralling cost of insurance and medical care.

Expand access to preventive care, regular checkups, wellness services FTW!

BTW, in a vacuum, I'd rather see one rich guy die because he couldn't jump to the head of the line than hundreds of thousands of poor people die because they were never treated at all.
  28. The US health service is not even efficient; its the most expensive [per person] in the world but is only 37th/190 in overall performance. Secondly, I believe I'm right in saying that Medicaid & Emergency rooms only cover emergency treatment but won't give you long term treatment [for cancer say].

Americans, come join the rest of the industrialised world [literally]
  29. strong lead with the ad hominem

  30. Good post Lenny!

Yup - I get to see my doctor for free whenever I want. I walk into a clinic for free for treatment whenever I want (on weekend for example). I go to the hospital for free whenever I want.

Some people just have tunnel vision.
