good for Japan, bad for Japanese Sumo

Here's a US based question:
- What costs more: The added medical costs to unhealthy fat people who die on average at a much younger age, or the long term social security & medicare benefits they receive after retiring? I think an obese person dieing at their desk of a heart attack at 55 is cheaper than some skinny, healthy, 95 year old guy living off government checks & seeing doctors every other week.
McDonalds for the win! -
Solid 195th post imo.... It's none of the gov'ts business if people are fat. Now if a company wanted to slim down employees that should be their choice. I for one wouldnt want a bunch of fat fucks working for me. Re-hiring and re-training is a bitch.

US Government counts on people dying young so that they cannot collect SS money paid. Especially those who never married, have no kids, and die fat an lonely at like 50. Fucking love's them.
-
It is in countries where the government either provides healthcare or subsidizes it.
-
Not sure about Japan though.
-
Can't wait to go to Japan and go all Gingerzilla on them.
-
I'd hit it

This pretty much covers everthing you'll need to know about Japan's health care. Seems ok to not allow fatties there, not ok here. -
logistics of fat people in a small country.
US has plenty of room left. -

correction:
- bfactor hates chubby japanese women passionately, and is thrilled if this new rule increases the percentage of slender hot Japanese chicks in Japan
However...

McDonalds doesn't make people fat. McDonalds doesn't make anyone do anything. It's annoying as shit that they are constantly the scapegoat. If it weren't for that pesky McDonalds America would be thin and in shape! Right? Errrr wait then it would be those expensive gyms! How can anyone stay in shape our economy is in shambles people can't afford a gym! It's never the fault of the person who is over eating or under exercising.

I totally agree.

I, as a somewhat fat person, know without a doubt that it is my own fault. I eat a lot of food whenever I'm hungry, regardless of what kind it is, if I happen to be craving it, and I don't exercise, thus, I became overweight as a result.
When I was in 6th grade, I ran cross country, and I lost all my excess fat and was in really good shape for that one semester that I ran it. We ran 5+ miles every morning, and I ran additional miles on most days as well. I ate shitty food all the time during that time span, McDonalds, greasy, fatty fast foods, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy etc etc, and still lost a bunch of weight, because of how active I was at that time. As soon as I stopped running cross country the fat started piling back on. I also know tons of people with similar shit, where they were in great shape despite eating McDonalds all the time and other similar fast foods.
That said, obviously it helps even further if you eat healthier foods, and in smaller amounts, as you can get away with a lesser amount of exercise and still stay in shape if you do that, and it also has a lot to do with your metabolism, given that there really are some people who can eat trashfood like a vacuum cleaner and still be skinny as shit without even exercising all that much or anything, and also there are people with the opposite problem where they eat barely any calories, and exercise and still have extreme difficulties with not being fat due to ridiculously slow metabolisms or various specific types of medical problems, but, on average, for the most part, it's the way you said.
Therefore, imo: fuck fat people. And that's coming from me, a fat person, which makes for all the more emphasis if even I'm saying it. -
Just to play a little devil's advocate... People know they are safer if they wear their seat belt and dont speed yet we have laws for that. Theres hundreds of laws to protect people from themselves. How would/is this be any different?

Personally I think it is HORRIBLE that there are seatbelt laws. Just like I also think it is ridiculous that there are laws against comitting suicide, or consuming various recreational drugs etc etc.

Gov't should fuck off on this sort of stuff. It's our decision to do wtf we want with our own bodies imo.
Once you start giving the gov't the power to decide what you are allowed to eat, when you are allowed to die, what drugs you are allowed to use, and so on and so forth, it is just s fucked up slippery slope that will keep adding on more and more gov't control over more and more minute personal aspects of your life until you don't have freedom over anything that we were intended to have the freedom to make our own choices over concerning our own personal lives and how we choose to live them. -
Well speeding makes sense because that can adversely affect others because it can be unsafe. Seat belt laws are dumb money makers, they are "protecting us from ourself" loooool they are raising money. I got a $75 seatbelt ticket about 8 years ago now for "Wearing my seatbelt improperly". I just finished paying my toll (ironic how I was already giving money to the state) and a state trooper jumped from behind the toll where he was hiding and shined a flashlight in my car. I had the strap underneath my left armpit instead of over the top and he said that was improper and to pull over. So I said "I thought it was click it or ticket? My seatbelt was clicked." He responded do you really want to be a smart ass to an officer? WTF that was so annoying. But anyways besides the point not having your seatbelt on doesn't affect anyone else but yourself.

Also I wasn't even commenting on the law in Japan in my post above was just saying how I hate when McDonalds gets blamed when all they do is offer a product (with full disclosure of nutrition facts might I add) and consumers choose to buy that product or not knowing full well it may affect their weight because of the high calories. I think the law is dumb, but I understand if a company decided on something like this if it was costing them a lot of money in excess premium similar to if they decided to institute drug testing to lower premium, etc. -
don't I see you in political threads touting RP (correct me if I am wrong) , RP would be ashamed that you even made this post
-
You could argue being fat adversly affects loved ones, mainly children, and the cost of health care for others, but youre def right. I hate pretty much all laws that protect people from themselves.
-
Don't worry the fat ones will move to you...

According to this article, we have spent 2x as much inflation adjusted $ to rebuild Iraq than Japan. Japan is 3x Irags size and had no cities destroyed by nuclear bombs.
