didn't check-up on the validity, just a chuckling messenger.
The study, published in Psychological Science, showed that people who score low on I.Q. tests in childhood are more likely to develop prejudiced beliefs and socially conservative politics in adulthood.

Here's my problem with this study.
So they aren't talking about conservatism in terms of what passes for conservatism in modern politics. Last I checked the neocons want lots of change. But it does make sense to me that those with a lower IQ would be drawn to more structured philosophies like religion and political philosophies that stress a top-down structure in determining right from wrong. Hell, under the definition of "conservatism" as used in this study, isn't everyone running for president a conservative except for Ron Paul? Out of all the candidates, including Obama, who wants the most change?People of low intelligence gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, which stress resistance to change and, in turn, prejudice, he told LiveScience.

Conservatism is a political and social philosophy that promotes the maintenance of traditional institutions and supports, at the most, minimal and gradual change in society. Some conservatives seek to preserve things as they are, emphasizing stability and continuity, while others oppose modernism and seek a return to the way things were.

Edited By: Dyzalot Feb 2nd, 2012 at 07:57 PMSo anyone that wants to preserve the status quo is a conservative? And anyone that wants to change the status quo and follow the Constitution is a conservative? Can you name someone in politics that doesn't qualify as a conservative under this definition?Originally Posted by EyeKnows

This had me laughing. Nearly all present day politicians, democrat and republican want nothing more than for things to stay the same as they are. Why the fuck would they want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? Unless maybe you mean change like more of the same government intervention, government programs, military industrial complex, regulations, taxes, etc. etc. etc.

Just lol @ self proclaimed liberals and/or progressives who think more of the same is change or progress and even bigger lol @ conservatives who think saying one thing and doing another is some kind of progress. -
Ron Paul is the only true progressive since he just wants to get back to the progress we were making prior to the reactionary period we have been in since.

I didn't make this up, you oughta edit the wiki if this is so wrong.

The Wiki is correct. It is our political labels that are the joke.
