I think he was comparing with Maluuba, but Maluuba does all that you mentioned that Siri does, as well as completely integrates with your calendar, shows a calendar/timeline on your screen as well. When you make calendar events they automatically appear in your google calendar as well as within the app, same with reminders, alarms, todo, etc.

The main reason we got above and behind Siri is the technology behind it, even major VC's in Siri have said that our technology allows us to expand into more area's way faster than Siri (after 16-18 months they finally added Movies), we can add 15-16 domains in the same time.
Other than the technology, and integrating more with your life/calendar. You can also share events that you find right from inside the app, with showtimes, locations, bus times, etc, all without leaving the app or the screen. If you want to invite someone to a movie from Siri, you'd have to leave the movie results, send a text to your friends via voice, you can't really specifiy a map location or a movie synopsis or anything like that. We as with Maluuba, if you are looking at a movie result, you can send them a page like this with one click:
http://www.maluuba.com/movie/Looper/-3622/09-10
And you can even invite them to the event, and add them to your calendar and it will also update their calendar. -

Huh? I said S-Voice gave me a ton of options, sorted them by distance, could check reviews, maps, ect. The Maluuba thing only gave me one. At no point did I mention Siri.Originally Posted by acp
Just tried "where is the closest pizza joints" Siri game me 15 locations, sorted them by distance and you can click each one for reviews and maps etc. without leaving the Siri screen. I think this was a bad example of how Siri sucks and S Voice based on Jaybones test lol

Jaybone that's what I meant that the test about pizza joints worked perfectly on Siri and S Voice
-
Oh really? We support stuff if it's in the title of songs, but not lyrics. I think you can say play nigga's in paradise and it should play it if you have it on your phone, or open up youtube if not.

Drew that all sounds great I think you guys are off to a great start, I am not comparing anything I was just simply saying Siri is working well for my daily use. A lot of those things you mentioned, ie. inviting to a movie sound like 'nice to haves', which is fine as long as you perfect the tasks that are considered necessities now, and most importantly find a way for the operator to understand users better. If I had an android device right now I would be all over your app I love testing new technology. I remember a couple of other Siri killers in the past that I tested heavily on Android and they were pretty good.

Iris was one or them.
Regarding the pizza joints, Gosalukis said Maluuba is better than Siri and SVoice and then in my test and Jaybones test Siri and SVoice did better, so that's all I was saying is that was not a good test to showcase Maluuba. -

Its really an obscure song tho. I actually dont even know the title of it lol. -
Siri only plays music in Apple Music app, it might have played it in YouTube when it was a native app, so that is a negative for Siri IMO

Edited By: Drewch Oct 10th, 2012 at 06:01 PMYup it's a bug, definitely not a good test to showcase Maluuba. Also, Siri is great and I'm not knocking it, just saying we've built on it with a better technology which will allow us to expand much faster than them.Originally Posted by acp

Also, here's a user youtube video of a good/random/funny test to showcase the difference between Maluuba and Siri :)

Never mind the video the guy said ba twice

Messes with it a little more. Seems fine with giving directions.
I didnt notice something tho. When simply looking for stores, I tried both "gas stations" and "ice cream". Yours didnt understand gas stations. I tried it multiple times. It worked with locating an ice cream place, but like other searches, it only shows the closest one instead of giving a list like S-Voice does. -
yea, S-Voice cant do the code thing. Gets confused and thinks im saying "Be a".
-
That's really weird that your only getting one result instead of a list. I've never seen that. I'm not sure if it's just the type of things your asking for, or we mess up your location. What if you ask "Nearest McDonalds", or "Sushi nearby".

Jaybone pissed on his phone so the microphone might be messed up
-
"nearest mcdonalds" gave me a list. "Sushi nearby" couldnt be found.

Lol, where the heck did you get Gosalukis from?? That was me!

Hahaha I have no idea

I guess I'm not really around all that much anymore :(
As for the whole Siri vs. Maluuba thing, I've only used Siri a few times on a friends device, so most of what I'm saying is based on what I hear and read. Obviously, my main goal in this thread was to try to get a few people to use my brother's app. I probably shouldn't have said one was better than the other, but I had to hook people somehow! As far as technical questions go, Drewch is obviously better suited to answer or tell you guys which tests to do, etc. -
Jay, try, "where can I get sushi in south new jersey" or whatever town you're in. It must be a bug. If I ask for "nearby sushi" I get no results either. If I ask "where can I get sushi in Mississauaga" it gives me the list. This is NOT how the app is supposed to work, so it's a bug for sure. It's supposed to understand both questions.

Okay... I finally got one place to come up when I said, "where can i get sushi near "my hometown" new jersey". I tried the next town over and got nothing.
Simply saying "south new jersey" didnt work, and when i just said, "new jersey" the closest place was 90 miles away. -
Yah iPhone 5 did very well in drop tests, 4 and 4s not so much.
Edited By: acp Oct 10th, 2012 at 06:39 PM
I did "nearby sushi" and got 15 results from Siri ;) .. Ok enough meaningless one-off comparisons.
I wish Mauuba was on Kindle Fire I have a couple of those POS's sitting here. -
Ok, pretty weird, going to have to dig into this and figure out what's going wrong. Thanks.
