It was off. Turned it on and got all the same answers tho.

Well, the original comment was about the old phones... and he posted about the iphone 5. If anything, it helped proves that apple slowly makes them better as they go some people keep buying them. Which is what the original comment was. -
I didn't address his initial statement. Just providing evidence to show that the statement "...your screens break after you drop the phone one time" is generally not true.
-
everyone knows at least a few people with completely smashed iphone screens tho. Small sample size I guess, but its not like he was talking out of his ass.
After watching that video, I guess ive been lucky with my GS3. Dropped this bad boy like 3 times already. Woot. Running good so far with this thing. -
The 4 an 4s were very fragile, the iPhone 5 is not you can see that in the video, so using the fragile argument when comparing the iPhone 5 to other phones doesn't make sense.
And in this one test it did better than the GS3, which means almost nothing with lack of sample size and a controlled testing environment. -
wait, you mean dropping two phones, two different ways, on a cobblestone road isnt a proper controlled test?
-
Exactly, I wouldn't say that the iPhone 5 is less fragile than the GS3 based on that video, I'm just responding because Elimherr who said the iPhone 5 is fragile is just a big fan of his GS3, which is cool, but him saying the iPhone 5 is fragile is wrong, that you can't view flash on the iPhone is wrong.

I think we each have like 150 posts itt -
This maluuba needs a LOT of work. I ask for Best Buy and it lists them in some random order where I need to scroll down to the find the one nearest to me. GPS is on. I ask for sushi and get no results found. I tell it to play Slayer and it starts a playing the first song in my library alphabetically. If I ask for a specific song, however, I get it. In fact if I ask for a song it doesn't recognize its just plays a random song from my library, doesn't even attempt to find on youtube or anything like suggested above.
Right now this is pretty useless imo but its laid out really nice and with some work could def compete with Siri. I like that it doesn't talk back to me. -
Ok, after playing with it some more it does have some useful features such as setting a quick reminder or alarm, however it will not sync with any calendars. I bring up the settings page and it asks which calendar to use but then it list any of the possible calendars and the little loading circle just spins forever. I like how its linked up with Wolfram Alpha but it doesn't comprehend longer questions. I don't mean to sound so negative, its a really good ap and I'm just really picky.

Maluuba def needs a lot of work.

They definitely know this and are open to any and all feedback. As mentioned, they're a startup with a tight budget, but what's telling is that, at the same point in their company's life, people in the tech world have acknowledged that they're much further along than Siri was. Assuming they can generate adequate funding, the app will continue to develop and hopefully become something we've yet to experience.
The important part for them right now is gathering feedback and continuing to make their product better in hopes of getting some serious investment money to begin making the modifications that are probably a little to costly at this stage.
Supra, thanks for checking it out and giving specific feedback, I've told me brother about your comments so I'm sure he'll be by at some point to read and potentially respond. -
This is really weird, and JBone was talking about this too, so I'm going to look into this today. Are you asking for "Best Buy in X" or are you just asking for best buy (and allowing gps to choose).

Yeah, we also think the talking back is gimmicky and very clippy like (if you remember clippy from windows): http://techcrunch.com/2012/08/23/sir...he-new-clippy/Originally Posted by supra1988t

Thanks, Calendars, alarm, and reminder integration is what seems to be our strong point right now and what power users are doing with Maluuba. It is extremely useful. We actually had a 7 hour outtage last night between 8pm and 3am EST, so the calendar sync was not working for anyone, it really only affected people who newly downloaded the app. Please try again, I'm sure you'll really like the calendar syncing/my day page.

No worries, we need this, keep it coming. If you have any other feedback after this thread dies just lemme know at @MaluubaInc -
We are actually able to reproduce this best buy thing now, we we're talking to Yelp about it (In Yelp's term's of service, we are not allowed to re order the results they give us). They are having trouble with their geo coder. In other words, they are having trouble trying to figure out where you are based on GPS, and since we can't change the order, it has to be like that. They are working to fix it ASAP.

I thought we couldn't use P5s to promote our own company's goods/products?

For starters, I'm in no way affiliated with my brother's company. I want them to do well because he's my brother, but that doesn't make it my company or my product. Secondly, the app is extremely relevant to this thread and as you can see, it generated some good discussion. He didn't have anything at all do with me posting in this thread and didn't even know it existed until I linked him to it, and the only reason I even did that was so he could try and directly fix some of the things that didn't work for OTers.
How is this any different than Res posting about his sister's recipes and book in a cooking thread (The Pioneer Woman is awesome, I'm glad I found her through OT)? Boggles my mind that you'd even make a comment like that. He hasn't even freaking linked to anything related to Maluuba (other than a YouTube video that a USER created). They have a website and they have promotional material, none of which you see him posting here.
It's not like they need the 10 extra users they're going to get from the Off Topic section of a niche forum, I just thought Oters who use Android might find it cool. -
Seeing as how people have been banned/posts deleted before for similar things, yea I was serious. Figured I'd ask because I will have an app ready soon anD would like some ppl here trying it
-
I hope you guys can post apps I think this is great stuff to try and help other OT'ers with. I've never opened the welcome and rules thread and I probably never will.
-
Its not like he made a thread like, "hey come check out my new company/website and please visit it and spend money on in."

He posted in a thread with only people like us who would actually care. And he didnt make any money off it, just feedback. Basically a focus group. Hardly over the top promotion of something. -
I am more than happy to test out any android apps so when you get yours going Camz if you want let me know. Maluuba doesn't currently support my country but neither does Siri or S Voice. I don't know why when I say "find nearest KFC" it says currently does not support businesses in your country, couldn't it pretty easily just search google maps based on my GPS position for KFC and then it would bring them up?

Edit: Played my music perfectly, whatever I asked for, Band/singer or song name.
EDIT: I love the UI for the music, calendars not syncing for me either though. -
Anyone who has a Sprint iPhone 4 or 4s they want to get rid of, let me know. Must be Sprint.
I lost my iPhone 4s a while back. Can't upgrade to the 5 for another 10 months. This substitute Blackberry that I'm using blows. -
why can i not scroll in the text screen, just bought today and when i try to go up in a convo it just does for a bit and flips to most recent once I let go.
May be because still uploading the history from iphone sync? think it did it before i started that as well tho -
Tommpat that does not happen on my phone, sounds like a bug.
-
