Third hand smoke- the inhalation of smoke expelled from the lungs of someone who inhaled the smoke from the exhale of someone smoking. Its a serious problem folks.
-
I agree with you. I knew it was a non smoking place (as most places are around here) when I moved in. If I couldn't smoke on the sidewalk (not liter my butt) too it would be ridiculous. I'm not sure how SM laws are about smoking in public but I thought it was illegal although not really enforced because I'm up there a few times a month for work.

Freedom, man. These people are free to move to single family dwellings or move to another city or state. Freedom is awesome! Just like coal miners choose to work in deplorable conditions and sweatshops are simply offering a choice to children held at gunpoint and chained to chairs, the city of Santa Monica is simply offering a choice.

Freedom, man! -
Are those words supposed to have some kind of meaning or point to them?

I'm just glad my city is looking out for me

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Smoking anything other than medically-prescribed marijuana at San Francisco street fairs, festivals and other outdoor events held on city property would be banned under new legislation before the Board of Supervisors.
Supervisor Eric Mar said he introduced the proposal because of the health impacts of secondhand smoke when people light up in public.
“It’s widely known that secondhand smoke is responsible for as many as 73,000 deaths among non-smokers each year in the United States, and there is no safe level of exposure,” he said.
I like how "secondhand smoke" has morphed from living with someone who smokes constantly indoors/a bar full of smoke/a plane full of smoke to smelling smoke somewhere. People actually think they get cancer from sniffing someone's cig walking down the street? eyeroll icon
but at least it gives me another chance to rant about the insane asshole gov, who sued the cig companies (because they kill people!) and got a shit-ton of money which they spent on whatevertf the wanted, thus allowing cig companies to sell their addictive products unchanged (still got that lovely arsenic/rocket fuel/etc in em) without any risk of future lawsuit. thanks gov! We're so much safer now! Can't wait til the pass more taxes on cigs in order to make up for the drop in cig sales due to this new law!
dyz I'm sure you saw this but jic: http://www.lvrj.com/business/roll-yo...161539845.html
buried in the highway bill is a rule crushing roll-your-own tobacco stores. I guess killing jobs = creating jobs these days
"I feel it's kind of shaky,'' Wiessen said. "The man who pushed for this bill is Sen. (Max) Baucus from Montana, and he received donations from Altria, a parent company of Philip Morris. Interestingly enough, there are also no RYO machines in the state of Montana. It really makes me question the morals and values of our elected speakers." -
What if I buy a big house so I can rent out to people? Oh crap! Now I can't smoke in my house...
-
is the gov using eminent domain to seize smokers' houses yet? it's for the good of all after all.
-
Or one could just be free to choose to live or not live in a smoking or nonsmoking establishment.
-
Go live somewhere other than America if you want to be free?
-
If it was the type of apartment where I would smell someones else smoke why im sitting in my house, then I dont see a problem with this.
If that isnt the case, then this is dumb. -
This nonsmoking liberal sez the anti-smokers are worse than any smokers known-their determination to tell others that they know what's right for them, and impose their views, makes me want to shoot my cookies.
-
I lit a smoke at the Mike Grimm show and some woman turned and said OMG you cant smoke. I pointed south and said Pussyafornia is that way, this is Nevada. And the bars never close.
-
anyone remember being able to smoke on airplanes?
-
-
No it doesn't. You can't compare choosing a different property to choosing a different government or citizenship.
-
Why not? All 3 are impractical
-
It wasn't a comparision of practicality although it is much easier to change property than it is to change citizenship or country of residency. It is about freedom. We are free to live on any property we wish. Unfortunately we aren't free to live in any country we want. It is illegal in fact to live in another country for most people. It isn't illegal to move to a new house or apartment. If there were open borders then the comparision would be more apt.
