  3. I have been known on occasion to howl at the moon.
  4. 32 rich people own teams. It's pretty easy to understand why they can't all compete at the highest level successfully year in and year out.
  5. it's cool. your opinion is a rather popular one.
it's just silly when people expect everyone in the world to have the same values as they do.

I don't think I have acted like there aren't 30 owners who can do whatever they want, in fact I believe in that philosophy too. I just like the ones who care about winning more and think they are better at what they do.

Oh yes, yes. They are "better" because they share your values.
  9. Oh no, no. They are better because they win and make money while doing it.
  10. Thunders as a franchise turned a pretty good profit last year in a league where playoff teams struggle to break even.
But nahh. they aren't good owners.
they hired Sam Presti. that makes them better than 25 owners on that merit alone.

it's perfectly fine that you "like them more"
but thinking theyre "better" for that same reasons that you "like them" is absurd.

    ducy?

just retract that and I'll stop making you look dumb
  12. haha I will not retract, I do not believe in that philosophy.

But I will say that I do believe some owners who think about profits first are good owners, and that win first owners aren't always good owners. Just think that some of the best share the idea that winning is #1. Simple example is I think Mark Cuban is a better owner than Donald Sterling, and a lot of it (not all) has to do with the fact that Cuban, or any owner in the league, cares more about winning basketball games than Sterling does, and they dive deeper into their pockets to prove it.

  13. your philosophy is for retarded people. the goal of everything is to maximize the good (wins) while minimizing costs.

just because OkC ownership doesnt think it's worth 90MM + 200MM in luxury tax + having zero cap flexibility for 5 years to have a 5 percent higher chance to win the title in one year, they dont "care about winning"
especially when A. they have a top tier GM who will maximize the returns from the cap space
and B. maybe, just maybe, these professional basketball analysts dont think Harden is worth a max. especially not a max on a team with 3 huge contracts. it's just economic at that point.

but no. they dont care about winning. they dont have what it takes. also, you evaluate players and know what's better for the team than the ownership and Sam Presti do.

but keep parroting your bullshit. youd fit right in on ESPN's First Take.
  14. You sound more like Stephen A. than I do.

You put a lot of words between the lines of what I actually said. Here is what I wrote which started this discussion:

Don't like the trade at all for OKC, the owners are already billionaires just pay the fucking tax and take your shot at some rings. Now there is some uncertainty for the team to make the conference final when they were pretty much already a favorite. Pussies, make your beaucoup money elsewhere.

Never said OKC Thunder owners don't care, I said some owners don't after you brought that point up later...never said the Thunder don't have a top tier GM, I know they do.

I said I don't like the trade and it has to do with Harden giving OKC a better chance at winning a ring. In this specific case, I believe it would have been worth it to hold on to Harden even if it cost the billionaire a couple million extra, at the very least until next year and assess further luxury tax implications then. My throwaway comment about making "boocoo" money elsewhere seems to be what got you stuck on shit that wasn't even a point until you brought it up.

  15. nope. I never even read the "throwaway comment" until now.

because the statement, "youre billionaires, just pay the fucking tax" is just moronic.

you continue using the word 'philosophy' and Im not sure you know what it means.

you did an ok job of arguing in the beginning, but now youre just grasping and back-pedalling.

Yes. Im responding to things you have explicitly said. No, I am not putting words between your lines.
Every one of your arguments is terrible and reductive.

"youre billionaires, just pay the fucking tax and take a shot at some rings"

    youre being really fucking stupid.

but Im going to give you the beneft of the doubt. it's 4am. just stop typing dumb shit on your computer just because it's in front of you. it's making you look bad.

I'd say the bolded part is correct.

Harden is a max player...he just wasn't going to be a max player for OKC and have things work out well for the team.
  17. Took Harden in the 2nd round (16th pick) in the OT fantasy league. Trying to evaluate whether this increases his value or not.

well...i'd assume minutes would go up a little bit...that means all of his per game categories should technically get better (as with most NBAers who get regular PT). i would assume that his FG% will go down a little bit because he's going to have to shoot more for Houston.

all the whole, i'd say it increases his value...his TOs and FG% will be hurt, but the rest of his categories should remain the same (FT%) or get better (rest of per game stats)

    egg-zack-tly
  21. Houston gets their max, OKC gets a temporary stopgap who they might flip, a potential stud in Lamb, and a couple #1s. They weren't going to be able to keep him, they probably weren't going to win this season, and they got enough parts to stay as one of the best teams in the league while building for a couple years from now when the Lakers are dead and the Heat are old. I don't think either time came out of here not getting what they wanted, or at least as well as they thought they could realistically do.
  22. *whom
  23. So Harden gets steamrolled by Lebron in the finals and now he can't play defense?

OKC shoulda ditched Westbrook and kept Harden. Lots of good point guards. Sames not true of shooting guards. Harden will be the best player at his position in 2 years. Westbrook will never be that at his

Who are the 5 point guards that are currently better than Russell Westbrook? Chris Paul is a given. But then it's pretty open? To me, Westbrook is 100% a top 5 point guard. I'd assume you have Rondo, Deron, Nash, Lawson/Parker ahead of him? Really questionnable. I'd have Westbrook #2 personally and could understand people taking Rondo over him. After that, don't see anyone else.

  27. Really like the trade for OKC, always felt Harden was overrated
  28. What am I missing here? I'm obviously discounting Derrick Rose due to injury, but he'd be #2 to Paul to me if healthy. Who else am I forgetting, Kyrie Irving I'd have close, but don't think he's superior to Westbrook at this point.

I'm tired from Saints getting owned. What am I missing?
