I am jobless and hunting around Las Vegas for jobs and not having much luck. I have had a few retail group interviews for various clothing retailers at Caesars Forum Shoppes and some of the chain stores at Town Square.
Mostly they are group interviews and ask very general questions like "Give an example of good customer service?" ... I don't necassarily know how to approach them it seems. I feel the questions aren't exactly hard but I also am thinking maybe there is something that I am not quite showing in my answer or how I answer..
I am jobless , qualify for no benefits, and really need to nail one of these interviews dead on. Does anybody in OT have any retail experience with hiring and what you are looking for in these group interviews?? -

good customer service? well thats all i care about really, i love being in the service industry, i chose to be here because i love working with people. and for me to be successful, i know that the customer comes first. How do i provide it? well i give the little extras, i tickle their balls, most of the girls dont, but I DO. Thats your template.

I was tempted to tell the interviewers at Nike Town that if Kobe Bryant comes in the store I am willing to go above and beyond and be bent over a chair for him. I didn't however and well..... I am reading their rejection letter... wish I had the template before Moose!

well i was kidding about the service you provide because i dont know what job youre going for, but thats how you approach it. I mean you want this job right? This is something you want to do? Well be excited about it for them. Nobody wants to hire some sad sack of shit that they are going to have to work with everyday, no matter how spot on their answers are. Heres a good made up example to that question: Well we did have Kobe Bryant come into the store one day. Needless to say everyone was going a bit crazy. Everyone was running over to try to talk to him, including the guys working the floor. Well, there was a woman and her young daughter that were trying on shoes at the time and their attendant left them when Kobe showed up. Hey, Im a huge Lakers fan but this was more important to me, I left the counter job (which was my station at the time) to help them. I gotta admit, I was a little distracted by what was going on about 50 feet from me. I started to help them try on shoes, and we tried a few pairs, when the mother thanked me for being patient, this was her daughters first pair of tennis shoes. Which took me aback at first because she was probably 9 years old, well she had been in a back brace up until a week ago. Well, needless to say, when we finally found the perfect shoe for her, we were all beaming. And then I took the mom into the back and blew yogurt in her face.
