So I'm doing a marketing project for a staffing company and my main goal is to come up with what an ideal website would look like in order to attract more job seekers. What would YOU want to see in a website if you're looking for a job? All ideas welcome
-
fucking jobs imo
-
The WORST thing about job boards is all the bullshit spam jobs you have to filter through. If a job board had some sort of Mod team that could delete the shit "MAKE $8243948239048523 A YEAR WITH NO EXPERIENCE" postings life would be much easier for the person looking.
-
No spam
Sick advanced search filters. Where i can search on a map or I can search by category. Something like E-bay's search filters. Also, can i leave my resume somewhere in your data base so employers can search your site and find me. -
Well I don't think there's anything you can do about it but most of the jobs I've been applying for recently all have those stupid ass surveys that all ask the same questions over and over but in different ways and you have to "strongly disagree" "agree" etc.
Hate that bullshit! -

here are a couple ideas:
Forums (wonder where I got this idea)- i dont think job sites have forums where people can come together with ideas/advice/problems...i think it would enhance not only the site but the job seeker's experience.
A "match.com" type profile- you set up a detailed profile when you make an account, and like match.com, you are matched with jobs that fit what you're looking for. text and email notifications also when any company matching your profile posts a job too. -
link imo

the company i'm doing the project for is Manpower.
http://us.manpower.com/us/en/default.jsp
here are the basic "guidelines" i'm working with if you're wondering:
Visit competitor sites and create a chart comparing their user experience to the Manpower site. This chart should provide a very detailed analysis of the sites and highlight various offerings. Also, use the data to make recommendations that would give Manpower a competitive advantage.
Develop ideas to make Manpower more helpful to job seekers. As we discussed, we need to identify ways we can make the experience at Manpower more helpful; provide tips, resources. Create a constant dialog, even if its computer-generated emails, based on their on-line behavior and viewing/searching trends.
Outline what an ideal site would look like and specific ideas we could implement to attract more candidates. This could include a dashboard of job seeking activities and tracking jobs.
Interactive Ideas- You mentioned you would like to receive a text when a job youre interested in is posted. Please provide multiple ways Manpower can connect with job seekers. Dont hesitate to be creative with your suggestions. Do we need a blog or any entertainment vehicles to get our message across? -
Translate it into Spanish.

Manpower will see this thread tomorrow via the powers of OT, and all the golden idears in it. Then it will be gg job.
Pigeons for a great spam free interactive user experience imo. Also giving roof peoples a chance at normalcy once again. Long live roofies! -
why would it be gg job...asking for input is not a big deal
-
relax im just kidding. i was implying they would obv reap the rewards from the fruits of OTist offerings, thus eliminating the needs for "projects."

This would just feel like another networking site to me. I see no need for other job seekers to see my resume. You could maybe find a way to link with FB somehow if the seeker opted-in , and save all that bandwith and server space. I def think they should have to create a profile, but only for the viewing of employers.

Obv it should be free to create an account. The employers are the only ones that should pay, if anyone. It would also be nice to talk with a real person with-in 24 hours of making the account. It would make me feel like i didn't waste my time creating another profile.

I agree...the forum would be a separate feature and people wouldn't be able to see your resume or other private information. the "match.com"-type profile would connect the job seeker with jobs, not with other job seekers.

manpower blows balls. the staff was less educated than i was. I would have loved if they offered me a managment in manpower so that when we set a 9:00am meeting i would not have waited until 10:30. The person i talked to did not understand how someone with a degree would use thier company. They spammed the hell out of the local job board and then all apps had to go thru them instead to the company. had two in office interviews where they would say "well you do have a great resume, not sure that what this one is looking for with all of your experience and that, but ill pass it on"... so i guess instead of giving a company an educated person for 4 months while i found something else, they preffered to some them uneducated people to stay for 6 months and not show up and be awful. so goodluck with manpower, and the best place to advertise is your local dive bar to find maunal labor folk fired from thier last 4 jobs.
