Joe Rogan is a cool guy imo, and decently informed about some interesting things.

But if you are seriously interested in this kind of thing, go deeper.

Philosophy is where it is at here...metaphysics, ontology, epistemology...Get into Kant's Prolegomena, Newton's Principia, Bacon's Novum Organum, Blake's Songs of Innocence and of Experience, Wittegenstein's Philosophical Investigations and pretty much everything from him, anything from Kierkegaard, Hume's Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, More's Utopia, Hawking's Brief History of Time, Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking, Morgan Freeman's Through the Wormhole, Cantor's Diagonal Argument, Godel's Incompleteness Theorems, Pascal's Pensees, Aquinas' Summa Theologica, Augustine's City of God and his Confessions, Berkeley's Three Dialogues, Anselm's work, Adam Smith's Theory of Moral Sentiments, The Problem of Universals, Existentialists like Camus and Sartre, Aristotelian Essences vs Platonic Forms, M-Theory, the synthetic a priori, Artificial Intelligence, Laplace/Bayes, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, Heidegger's Being and Time, the phenomenology of Hegel, the analytic philosophy of Frege/Russell/Whitehead, Spinoza's Ethics, Answering the question: Why is there something rather than nothing?, Logical Positivism and the Vienna Circle, Locke's Empiricism, Vico's New Science, Erasmus, Zeno's Paradoxes, Avicenna, Monism, and a whole lot more...

There is just so much to go on, and it is a shame that we only get a finite amount of time here.

On a more practical front, I've really begun to get into iTunes University. There is some fucking amazing stuff on there from super high quality lecturers from top Uni's all over the world; for free. It's awesome.

The true value of a man is not determined by his possession, supposed or real, of Truth, but rather by his sincere exertion to get the Truth. It is not possession of the Truth, but rather the pursuit of Truth by which he extends his powers and in which his ever-growing perfectability is to be found. Possession makes one passive, indolent, and proud. If God were to hold all Truth concealed in His right hand, and in his left only the steady and diligent drive for Truth, albeit with a proviso that I would always and forever err in the process, and to offer me the choice, I would with all humility take the left hand.

Definitely agree with you that philosophy is where it is at. Find it fascinating that you are maybe the best educated person on here and far as I can tell when referencing spirituality everything you mentioned is Western. Did your education include any Eastern thought? Or do you read any on your own? Not a knock, my education only included Western philosophy. Just found it quite interesting because at this phase of my life when I hear "spirituality" or read about the sensory deprivation tank in the other Joe Rogan thread I think of the East, powers of the mind, meditation etc.

Thanks for the info on Itunes University. I had 10,000 college lectures from The Teaching Company on my Ipod (whole courses from top professors around the world, same thing I'm guessing). Use to listen to lectures everyday but then my ipod was stolen and it has been a couple years now, never replaced it. Would love to get back into that.

Apologies for missing this. PM sent.

Edit: In sum, I am def. ignorant of Eastern Philsophy. I mean Ive studied guys like Radhakrishnan in depth. But, my weakness here gets to what I was saying...That its a shame there is only finite amount of time for us.
