  1. Is that the "because I'm me" asshole?
  2. LOL the ending was great.

I think the thread title is wrong. Judge Judy didn't make the entitlement argument. That black guy made the entitlement argument for her.

  3. Judge Judy keeps claiming the mans aid is for rent and rent only but I saw no proof that her claim was true. My guess is she really doesnt have legal leverage to force public aid to be spent on rent.

I DONT AGREE WITH IT...OK CONSERVATIVE ASSHOLES. IM JUST SAYING.

in the end the chick was a bum too

must have been cause they were black

Judge Judy was just going off of the information the man gave her. She never made the claim that it was just for rent until the guy said he was receiving money just for rent. He also had a stipend and was getting his schooling paid for. But it was ok because he was just being a "him".

  5. Multiply that guy by at least 15 million and you have exactly the current status of our welfare programs.

We gotta help people out though.

I'm against government welfare in all forms and yet I have a hard time believing there are that many with such a perspective on life. Is it really that bad? If it is then we are screwed.

  7. It would be interesting to know how many people have no clue that taking money for one thing and spending for something else is wrong, but we will never know. Reminds me of the "Do you think there should be a safety net thread?" Sure I do, but what we have now is not a safety net. Multiply this guy by a million or more and then you have something called corporate welfare and crony capitalism. At least I don't have to feel guilty. That's gotta be worth something.

Maybe 15 million is a high number, and maybe it's not. There are an estimated 47 million people in the US receiving govt assistance, so I felt that using a third of the total was reasonable.

It's other people's money, it's free...and I qualify. so I'm taking it and going out to dinner!!! Who wouldn't have this attitude?

Sheeeeeiit, I'm on the food stamp website right now signing up just for giggles. If I qualify, I'm going to EBT some thanksgiving festivities this year. w00p w00p!!!
  9. Anecdote: My Dad was shopping for party supplies yesterday (I hosted a UFC watching party and he brought some snacks), and when he was checking out at the store, a person in front of him was trying to use food stamps to buy beer and smokey treats. Clerk would not allow it, and the person became incensed. I wonder if it was the guy in the video (or just one of the millions like him).

Does the law state that he MUST use the aid money for rent? If so Im wrong. In paperwork that he signed were there stipulations that said this money must go for rent?

I understand what he told judge judy but I dont think he did anything legally wrong. His ol lady should have booted him out....but oh wait she never paid her rent and the lease was in her name not his.

Unemployment is insurance though. It is a bit different as the presumption is that you paid for it.

  17. Same can be said about any govt assistance. Its paid by tax payers so unless you've never earned a paycheck in your life then you've "paid into it"
  18. Dyz hit it on the head in another thread, it's not shameful to take govt assistance anymore. It's gone the other way were people show false pride in getting welfare, it's unmeasurable how this attitude shift has effected entitlement programs.

Add on to that advertising to get more people on food stamps both here and in Mexico(yes the US govt has ads in Mexico to tell illegals how to get food stamps) No wonder we have gone from 30MM to 47MM on that program in 4 short years. Either more people need them because their are no jobs or more people want them because they are that easy to get, I say both.

I would die for your right to make outrageous claims

edit: not really, it just sounds good

My wife worked as a social worker for a private organization. I would say that 40% of here clients on government assistance had a similar mentality. All of here clients were single mothers, so I would assume they would be less likely to have that mentality than others who have no dependents. Could be wrong though, it also isn't a huge sample size either so take it for its worth.

There aren't and pretty much every study says so. We don't let that stop us in OT tho.

I wasn't aware unemployment compensation came with conditions as to what one can spend it on. If the recipient of unemployment benefits did that contrary to the rules then that would be wrong too.

He's the one who said it was aid for rent.

  25. Just going by what he said . I have no independent knowledge. Regardless he sounded like a dick.
  26. In theory he did pay rent...he had to bang that fat chick
