  1. While I find it crazy to pay people who need virtually no skills $15 to $25/hr for a temp job. I just read that after they are done they can apply for unemployment as well. So work for 2 months and get unemployment for i believe like 50 weeks now, all at taxpayer expense. I am nuts or is that unreal? And aren't there like 600,000 census workers?

It would be ok to just tell me to GTFO, if Im overreacting.

  2. Your unemplyment is built up from time worked. If you worked 90 days you wouldnt get much. I applied for unemplyment once and if I got it I would have received 176.00 per week for 26 weeks. I got denied tho since I had quit the job due to personal reasons.
  3. Don't know about the unemployment but the pay you posted is pretty accurate.

  4. My sister is a census temp worker and she is getting paid $16/hr. I think it's better then what she was doing since she got laid off sitting on unemployment.
  5. My friend got a job to be a census worker getting $17.50 hr over the 8 weeks. They are allowed to work up to 40hrs a week and get to record there own hours. During training they were allowed to bring home a book and say they read it for 2 hrs and get 2hrs pay for the entire week+ they got paid for training.

Pretty sure he doesnt work anywhere near the full 40 hours a week but puts 40hrs a week down and gets the most forms filled out outta everyone who he works with. I think he said they get paid for gas $ too.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH coming im feeling
  6. I got hired as an enumerator for the 2010 census and decided not to do it for the fact it was for the a job 2 counties over and I didn't want to drive that far everyday. I am pretty sure that you have to be employed some where for 120 days to be eligible for unemployment, and most of the census jobs were for 8- 12 weeks... just passing on what I was told
  7. want to see a poorly run "company", get a job working for the census and you'll understand why the government is so incredibly ineffective.

though your pay scale is off, most people are getting between 11-16 dollars, plus mileage of .50cents a mile. only crew leaders+ are making more than that.

and i think what the other dude said about your unemployment being scaled to your time put in is correct.
  8. listen, they're counting AMERICA, give em a break.....they really care about how many people live here!
  9. I work for the census. 14/hr, .50/mile...honor system for both. Easy gig for the time being, but you don't need to be a genius to do it. Just orginized and confident.
  10. A census worked in Southern Indiana just raped someone when going to their house for information. He left his wallet, and clothes there so it was easy GG for him lol.

They are investigating how the hell a donkey like this got the job. apparently they give it to just anyone w/o background checks.
  11. Well the GOP is the main opponent of statistical sampling, so get on that conservatives.

Fuck that seems extreme. 25 miles per gallon, $3.09 a gallon on the west coast? So you're making like $113 dollars net every time you have to fill up a 12 gallon tank?

But anyway, where does confidence play a role in this job? Can you elaborate? Seems like you just have to be able to say "I know it's not fun, but it's required by law, so.." Is that what you mean?

  15. lol job creation
  16. So we have like 600,000 people on the "honors" system in regards to both hourly wages and $.50/mile at taxpayer expense? Not to mention paying them too high a wage for someone that needs virtually no skills. Why aren't we paying very close to minimum wage? Arent there like 20 million people out of work?

You're right it would be stupid for someone who is unemployed to work for close to minimum wage, just plain stupid.
