anyone know how long it takes to raise your credit score from bad to fair if you've missed a couple payments as a young lad? i'm talking with steady on time payments of more than the minimum.

Anyone who doesn't have credit cards is an idiot. You're going to spend the money anyways you might as well get cash back, rewards, airline miles, etc.

Yeah seriously, what's the worst that can happen?

"Anyone who doesn't have credit cards is an idiot."
Nice blanket statement. I still have a couple cards, mostly to cash in/out of stars (payTru), but paying interest is the stupid thing, so unless you can and do pay off the entire bill each and every month, then the "rewards" are very very -EV. I also enjoy not being beholden to giant financial institutions, like Chase, Providian, Uncle Sam, etc. -
If you can manage to have a credit card >$50 a month and pay it off, DO IT. If you can't control yourself, don't. This is coming from someone who is 22.
My credit is as great as it can be as a 22 year old, I would have no problem getting a really really decent mortgage (If I wanted a $200k-ish house,.) It all depends on how well you have managed your finanaces and if you have been helped out at all.
Edit: I can see how that might be weird, but since I've been 18, everything has been in my name. Cell, rent, every possible bill I can put in, credit cards, etc. etc., my dad just wanted to make sure I could build enough credit that I would never have to ask him for a loan or anything later on in life. After 5 years of school, trust me, it adds up (credit wise, not me paying wise.) -
I have the ability to pull a brokers credit report with 3 scores for $20
you just have to trust a poker playing OT-er
and jaybone you need $20
I fix credit scores for a living -
I'm with you SaulGood... I think I was reppin 525 from getting over my head in college, and letting a couple things end up in collections....My bad.
I'm just lucky I have parents that will cosign for me on shit, otherwise I would have gotten a shit on on both my car and house. -

Instead of paying for your everyday shit(food, gas, bills) with your debit card. You pay for it with your credit card and get cash back. Just pay it down every month. Pretty simple.
