I am pissed. Im not however using it as fire power in my war against a political party based simply on the verbiage they used. I feel those, like yourself, that seem to be pushing for some radical outcome and/or hasty decision on how we should respond are the ones suffering from the identity crisis.

America is in some sort of identity crisis. Our man at the top appears to not be doing everything he can to right the ship. That's what we should be ashamed of. -
This makes no sense at all. Death seems like a pretty good reason to push an agenda, especially if you believe that your agenda would have prevented that death. All the couch-fainting from the left about "inappropriateness" is so disingenuous I feel like I'm watching people audition for an Aaron Sorkin show.

If your agenda is simply to strengthen Embassy and Consulate security sure, but when your agenda is to get a man out of office, or further divide a nation from a religious group it's simply sad.

So you would like to see things like bringing in marines, evacuating employees and increasing local police presence?
-
You think the republican agenda would have prevented the ambassador's death? Or american deaths in general? Pls explain.

the part about islam being an enemy of america or the part about giving money to middle-eastern countries?
where should we ship money this week, broseph?
the fed's already shitting quarters as we speak so it won't hurt us too much. -
Facebook update from a friend who is in Tunisia. The embassy was attacked there today.
Veronica
update from Tunis: the embassy and the adjacent American school were attacked. protesters scaled the wall behind the compound. there were no Americans inside the embassy. they replaced the American flag with a black jihadi flag. three police officers were killed and many protesters were injured. the protesters have been destroying cars and burning the trees on the grounds of the embassy. Tunisian police were using tear gas and warning shots. apparently the police have gotten the crowd under control and the violence has subsided. I'm totally safe don't worry. it's sad such a small radical segment of the population can perform an act of violence that becomes representative of the country to others. Tunisians are so good and kind and completely unlike this.

This is perfect.
I'm so sock of politics. Can't we all just get along? That said, Obama sucks the donkey cawk when it comes to effective leadership. The guy has to be one giant joke, or something. I'm waiting for someone to wake me up and say "just kidding, no way we let that clown run the place". -
RIP to all those who died in these tragedies.

increasing local police does nothing. they stood by and watched the mobs destroy our embassies.

sending 50 marines to yemen doesnt change much. send 5000, send them to every embassy we have in the middle east and send them with orders to shoot anyone who sets foot on embassy grounds. those people need to know that we wont tolerate their animalistic behavior.
evacuating employees is fine, but they are just going to be brought back in a couple of weeks, into the same vulnerable situation. -
So when's your flight?

Islam is not an enemy of America. Radicals who consider themselves Islam are.

Making this about foreign aid, which we can't at this point just cease giving tomorrow or criticizing Obama over foreign aid doesn't make any sense. -
I think it's sad the man in office uses these difficult times to divide the country for the sake of maintaining power to advance his wrongheaded and irresponsible agenda.
btw my prior comment was meant to be a somewhat lighthearted response to your serious post. -
Hey Hey...Ho Ho
The diplomat killer has got to go! -
Politics is war without violence. Calls for "civility" are simply a stealth weapon, attempting to marginalize an opponent's stance without having to engage the ideas. Pretty standard for the party in power (GOP did this plenty in 2008, IIRC)

It's not whether I think it would work, it's whether they do. If they see the violence as an inevitable result of liberal foreign policy, they'd be fools not to engage the issue. Bit late in the game to get squeamish about it now. -
So you want to just send out 100k marines or so....

I'm in the take my ball and go home camp on this one. I'm against retaliation. I'm against continuing diplomatic relations. I'm against foreign aid. I'm against giving a fuck about stupid people who get riled up over holy things.
Fuck 'em all. We could use $2-4B/yr for more food stamps and free cell phones. -
This is seriously what you want?

I'd have this same stance if the dems were the ones demeaning these families and this nation's lose. Just b/c it's become the standard practice of politicians to doesnt make it right.

not what i want, but id prefer it to the current situation of having americans murdered, our embassies destroyed and looted and our flag desecrated.
obv i would prefer if the crazies in the middle east would act like human beings and recognize free speech, but that seems unlikely. -
Obama obviously needed only half of the daily intelligence briefings due to the fact that he was already highly intelligent. Also, none of his golfing buddies even mentioned to him that it was 9-11.
