Egypt is among about 14 countries designated at “major non-NATO allies” by US presidents.

The U.S. State Department has directly contradicted Barack Obama, insisting that Egypt is an ally of America, despite the president's statement public statement that 'I don't think that we would consider them an ally'.

Asked about the president’s comment, White House National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said: “‘Ally’ is a legal term of art. We don’t have a mutual defense treaty with Egypt like we do with our NATO allies. But as the President has said, Egypt is long-standing and close partner of the United States, and we have built on that foundation by supporting Egypt’s transition to democracy and working with the new government.”
If Obama told you to shit, you would ask, "What color?" -
Shockingly, I actually agree with you on this but unfortunately, Obama doesn't have the balls to do this, hence when asked about shutting off the spigot of money to both of these countries, which imo is the start of putting pressure on these countries, he said this.. But when asked by Diaz-Balart whether it was time to "reconsider foreign aid" to Egypt and Libya, Obama said the U.S. “doesn't have an option of withdrawing from the world ... we're the one indispensable nation."

Since when is suspending aid considered withdrawing? -
It's my understanding, and I could be wrong about this, but its not uncommon the closer Presidential elections happen, that the current admin starts sharing some info with the challenger regardless of what the poll numbers say in the event the challenger wins the election, they will have been kept informed on important information.

this is my understanding also.

Seems dumb considering they still have from November through January to get up to speed if they'd happen to win.

So these Muslims are like monkeys? The stick is the film? So the film poked the monkeys and now the monkeys go nuts everywhere?
Thanks for that. I totally fucking get it now.
Reason: now, not "not" -
They're fucking animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT, take away Americans and their money and we will turn ugly too. -

Why do we have Ambassadors in every fn country?
-
You ever watch Rambo 3 and 4, same concept.
-
Having an embassy in almost every country is one of the perks of being American
-
Don't have an embassy in Cuba afaik
-
Doubtful. Know we don't have one in North Korea. If an American wants to go to NK you use the Swedish embassy if anything happens. Read yesterday we don't have one in Iran but have an office in the Swiss embassy. I was surprised to hear that we had one in Libya
But it's crazy how almost every country has a US embassy. Can make traveling a little easier -
loooooool!

There was an American Embassy in Havana when I was there a few yrs ago, pretty sure it's still there.

They had a digital sign that would display news headlines. The Cuban gov built a bunch of huge flagpoles to block the sign.
Edit: apparently it's called the American Special Interest Section. -
In Egypt, there are still people loyal to Mubarak. Then there's a faction that hates anything US. Giving that up would be harder than cigarrettes. If you've ever had fury that you felt totally entitled to. Anyone who has ever lost anyone probably has been told it's the US' fault. Half of those 76% probably are dirt poor and don't even know his middle name or pedigree, or if they heard it, also heard it's a lie. ipads for everyone
-
true - i would also go as far as saying many of the middle eastern countries would rather have a lot of talk, sabre rattling and foreign aid dollars topped off with some advance warnings of who is going to get hit next, and where. Obama's strategy seems to be small scale clandestine operations and drone attacks on the leadership of terrorist organizations. It's highly effective and they don't like it much.
