  1. Got an unplanned trip to LA next week for 2 days. Plan to stay in Hollywood as I've never been there. Looking for opinions on which things to do, given that I have about 1 days worth of "doing".

    Movie: Grauman's Egyptian/Chinese/ArcLight (Dome?)/??.

I think Baraka is playing at the Egyptian. Haven't seen it since it came out, could be the perfect place

Comedy Club: checked out the listings for the Comedy Store and Improv. Worth it? I love good standup comedy more than most but hate bad

Bike/Commerce Club: Probably won't get there as I'd rather do something I can't do outside of LA, but if I can't help myself, which is better for poker?

    Hollywood sites: walk of fame/wax museum/Capitol records/Universal Studios/???

Griffith Park Observatory: pretty sure most people will say it's a must. Is it?

Beach: need a good beach to hang out before take-off back home

Hookers: I PMed defenders for some tips but he hasn't got back. I don't know anyone else in OT who partakes

Weed: hook a brutha up! drinks on me

thanks. God bless the West Coast
  2. Jumbo's Clown Room

    The Rainbow Bar and Grill

    Oki Dog (obviously)

    Venice Beach

  3. This site needs a travel help section.
  4. Good luck getting all those things in during a 2 day trip.

Spend the morning walking around Hollywood and looking at the walk of fame and Chinese theater and all that. It gets old after an hour. By afternoon you should hit up Venice Beach and get drunk on the boardwalk (that's where you get your weed, too). High tail it back to Hollywood for the night. Plenty of spots to have fun on. I recommend going to Sunset and hitting Rainbow Room which was suggested. May have a good band playing next door at The Whiskey or Roxy.

Next day hit Griffith Observatory checking it out. Def a must see.

If you're not renting a car enjoy the $300+ in cab fares you'll be spending.
  5. What Z-Fresh said

was going to tell you to go to Venice Beach, Hollywood is the most overrated place in the world and can be done in an hour, Griffith Park is well worth it.

I lived in Philly for 5 years and I got bored/disgusted with it rather quickly. Guess its worth saying you been there, but by the time you leave youre going to be saying to yourself, "well that place was a shithole."

Have a cousin who lives in SD and her husband is always going to some gym around there to work out and jokingly I said man I figured you would be working out down at muscle beach. He said nah have to step over to many homeless people to get there.

Pink's is pretty damn good. But it does not come close to the glory that is Oki Dog.

  29. I don't know LA very well, but Belmont Shore is pretty awesome. 2nd street is a good time. I would never live there, but I can definitely see why people love it.
