  1. had laptop for 18 months, when i start it, it says 'A disk read error has occured. Hit control alt delete to restart.' Then that just keeps happening. Circuit City said hard drive is dead. Do I buy new hard drive $130, buy recovery disks (because i dont have them), and hope that works. If not I can return the hard drive and buy a new comp.
Or just buy a new one because new hard drive isnt gonna do anything?

When/if I do get a new one, what is the best one for me? I just play poker and yahoo messenger and surf interenet. I am impatient though, so I want it to be fast. I usaally have 2-3 tables open and yahoo messengeropen at same time so I'm thinking a 15+" screen. But what brand and model?

    thanks for your help!
  2. A new laptop hard drive is only gonna cost you $60 and if you have an hp I think those restore discs are like $15. So if the laptop worked for you then go with that. I personally use a macbook pro and full tilt and pokerstars run on osx, and XP runs very well on this so I would recommend one of those.
  3. probably just get a new one if a few hundred bucks won't hurt.
    Toshiba Satellite ftw
  4. My gfs laptop does the same thing and gives a warning to back up files immed.
I would get an external hard drive and save all your good stuff. Then try to replace the internal hard drive an run it. If that doesnt work I would buy a new one. The new computers are cheap now and have much more memory.

  5. I like this one.
