  1. Home run hire for Wazzu. Solid group of offensive playmakers in Wilson at WR and Halliday at QB. Great locational fit for Leach as Pullman is pretty off the radar.

    This.

I def would've preferred getting to watch Leach's offense at UofA instead of Rich Rod's offense, personally. That said, to be totally honest it's not like I'm 100% sure that Rich Rod will actually not end up being better than Leach would've been, at UofA. Who really knows for sure (since, I mean, obv he did rape fairly hard at WV (but then again it could've had more to do with lucking out talent arsenal-wise with guys like White and Slaton who fit sick-awesomely into his offense (obv just easily could not have mainly been that that was the main factor in his success though, and have been his own skillz, mainly, afterall, no way to really know for sure. Most likely it's somewhere inbetween), and then of course on the flip side, his Michigan stint wasn't all that awesome. ::scratches head::

So in the end, I don't really know. I mean, I definitely would have been happier, in the moment at least, with getting Leach than getting Rod, but am excited to see how it actually ends up playing out in real life in the years to come.

lol I was thinking about the same thing
  10. good hire, guy looks like an angel compared to whats happened with coaches since he was fired.....great regional fit

  11. we (the fans) wanted him at ole miss badly. others (admin) didnt. He def got a raw deal at TTech but there is something else going on (outside of the lawsuits) that is making admins across the country shy away from him. Not really sure what it is but really glad wash st gave him a chance and look forward to seeing him light up pac12 defenses. His coaching tree is pretty sick to.
  12. His personality isn't a fit for everyone, especially stuffy College administrators who like their new pets to look pretty at pageants and balls.

    Wild for Wazzu.

FWIW Leach signed a lucrative book deal and has been doing TV the last two years. He's also pursuing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against ESPN, Tech and the state of Texas. Add in the fact he was coaching at 1.8mm a year before the Tech fiasco, and the going rate for proven college football coaches/administrators, Wazzu got him on the cheap.

Congrats mariner, bro hugs and fist pounds all around. Nothin but love for all your opinions from here on out. Pirates gotta stick together.

Yea, I know what you mean, and I kind of figured it would maybe be like that for him when he was looking for a new job after he got fired from TT.

From what I've seen of him in random youtube videos of him talking about various random things, he always gave off a strong vibe where he seems like a guy who is VERY very very willing to speak his mind about pretty much anything and everything. Def not the type to just sit silently and be a robotic puppet for his masters or anything like that, more like the exact opposite, I mean, in terms of the vibe I got from how his personality seems.

So, I can def see how a lot of schools administrations could label him as a "hard to work with/deal with" type of guy or whatever.

That said, personally, I actually found his personality type to be pretty fucking awesome, even if maybe it sometimes goes over the line or comes off as abrasive or occasionally maybe even a little fucked up, lol. I think he would've been loads of fun, and would had a blast watching him in post game press conferences/interviews/whatever over the years at UofA, compared to say, some emotionless never-edgy dead-potato type of coach, by comparison.

    Oh well
  14. Fuck it, might as well just hold on to Dooley now.

if you are neutral fan and went to the apple cup game this weekend you can see the differences in the two fans.

most of the cougs got shit ass wasted and look like the get er done dude with jeans and a t shirt on in the cold weather.

the husky fans are the properly dressed city folk who dont want to get too drunk and are more focused on appearance.

Its what makes the rivarly fairly unique...its basically white trash vs. yuppie pricks

except that isn't unique at all, pretty much the basis of a lot of rivalries.....UNC v Duke (even tho to NCSU and ECU fans UNC is yuppie, but Duke takes it to another level) Clemson v South Carolina, rednecks v girls wearing prom dresses to the games, Virgina v Virgina Tech law school v laid back partiers....etc etc

  24. Personally, I actually like udubb. I mean, not in a homerish way or anything, I'm not associated them directly on indirectly in any way at all. But it always seemed like a nice school to me, and I even applied there, but didn't get in since my grades weren't good enough (lol anti-brag).

From what I saw of it when I was researching the school back in high school when I was thinking of maybe going there if I didn't get into UCLA or UCSD etc, it looked pretty beautiful. Awesome location, very picturesque and everything, pretty solid academics. Decent sports history. Lorenzo Romar for thei bball coach (who I like since I remember him from when he was assistant under Jim Harrick back when UCLA was all sick (I was a huge UCLA fan during kindergarten-12th grade obv)). Plus I strongly prefer rainy weather to sunny weather. Not to mention the pacific northwestern area seems to be a major serial killer destination, so maybe they have some good serial killer criminology courses up there that would've been loads of fun to take lol. Iono.

But then on the other hand, Mariner is a Washington State guy, and he's pretty cool, and you are a Washington guy, and you're kind of an asshole (no offense, lol). Then again I myself am kind of an asshole. And sample size issues. So whatevs.

So, I guess I'll just be fairly neutral about the whole Washington State vs Washington war for now hahaha.

    I can't argue with that.
  26. Every college in the country wanted or would like this guy to be the fball teams coach. He is arguably the best coach in the country. The reason big name schools did not hire him is because he interviewed very poorly. I guess with a kind of i dont give a fuck attitude. The school does the hiring, but the money comes from boosters and boosters like to be a part of everything, its why they give money (they feel if they give all this money they are entitled to being important and have sometype of here say). Leach doesnt give a fuck about boosters and appearing at certain parties and functions. Basically, hes a gangster.

  27. 1st thing i thought of when i heard this was how this may appease the hatfields and the mccoys (randers and sheeps).
  28. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I'm so fucking pumped. Love this hire so much. He inherits a great situation with Jeff Tuel and Marquess Wilson already in place. His style is a great fit for the Pac 12. He will fit in perfectly in Pullman and its community. He's going to do big things with our program. We are back on the map in a big way!
