Trade was accepted 12:30 AM Monday morning. I have triple checked my e-mails, it says 00:30 AM. It was not on Sunday (but that is more of a technical thing cause it's only 30 mins past sunday). The more important note is that I was sleeping cause I got to wake up at 5:30 to get to my job. If this was during the school year I would have been up to accept your trade. -
lol I understand this isn't a daily league. If it was this wouldn't even be an issue. You said the trade you were involved in was talked about saturday so I thought it was pushed through saturday, and you were working sunday morning so you weren't awake, and rosters had to be set up Sunday.
I can't argue either side when new facts come in every post. Seems like a big huge mess caused by the fact that you aren't always available to the other league members, and trades get pushed through when you have time to do so, which isn't to anyones benefit but people who trade with you, or trade earlier in the week where timing doesn't really matter.
This thread was created to get outside opinions, but again, new facts come in with every post so this is obviously something nobody from outside of the league can really give a great opinion on without full understand of the situation.
I hope everything works out well, and I hope this doesn't happen come fantasy football season.
Goodluck with the rest of your guys season, and I hope this didn't affect the weekly scores. -
I mean, it's not new facts, it's just how you are interpreting them. I said Marc OFFERED me a trade on Yahoo on Saturday which I said I wasn't looking to do. Then I talked to him on AIM Sunday. This is all in my previous post, nothing changed.
The only reason that it seems like "new facts" are coming to light is because people are saying the wrong thing. The facts are clear
1. I did my trade with Marc Sunday afternoon at 3PM ish EST
2. They did their trade Monday Morning at 12:30 AM EST while I was sleeping
Yea, I wasn't available. But don't make it sound like I only push through trades when I have time to do so, I look at the league stuff often. It's just unfortunate the trade wasn't accepted 2 hours earlier while I was watching Entourage.Originally Posted by MyJobisYou

sounds to me like leet8s did absolutely nothing wrong here... leet8s has always been a very ethical guy
-
If trades are going to be pushed through to allow the players to be used that week, then any trade made prior to the lineups being locked should be pushed through. There's no fair way of only doing some of them...I don't think you did anything shady, but obviously you can't be online at all times, so as a result I don't think any trades should be pushed through.

Ok, that's a fine argument. Im just coming in here to dispel any shady or unethical things

I'd love to hear a counterargument from you, rather than just stating that what RJA said (which is essentially what I said) is a "fine argument" and moving on.

Excellent job of answering the question. I asked to hear a counterargument to what RJA said - that the logical decision was to not send either through - and rather than answer you quote something of mine from the beginning prior to us getting a full explanation from you.

You said I was being shady because the trade I accepted was one I was involved in but didn't accept yours. That's why what RJA is saying is different than you.
As I said initially, it was clear you had no intention of fixing a mistake that many others saw as wrong, and it was a waste of time to even bother attempting to explain to you why you should have. -
2. My trade was done SUNDAY afternoon, not Saturday
3. Their trade was done MONDAY MORNING, 12:30 AM EST.
If these are, in fact, the facts... then i don't see anything as being shady at all. Now if the second trade would have went down around the same time as the one he pushed through, and he didn't accept it, OR if someone made contact with the Commish telling them about it sometime sunday afternoon and he didn't push it through, then there would be an issue. But as is, I don't think the commish is in the wrong at all. Second trade was just bad timing. -

Alright, this thread needs to die lol.
I believed that if a trade was rushed thrrough prior to the 3 day waiting period so that those two teams could use their players for the upcoming week, then that all trades made before the deadline should be pushed through so all teams can use the players.
Clearly, the commish believes differently.
As he is the commish - and has had multiple people inform him that logically either both should have been used or neither - and refuses to do anything, theres nothing else that can be done. Arguing over it still is useless -
How the fuck can I fix the mistake? I can't set your lineups retroactively.
You act like both the trades were accepted at the same time. Why do you keep repeating this when it has no bearing when my trade was done at 3PM EST and yours was done 12:30 AM EST? You act like I willfully didn't accept your trade or you act like I knew you were going to have a trade done with Marc 9 hours after my trade.
Others from OT saw it as wrong because they didn't have the facts, the most important of which was the timing. Everyone since I have posted regarding the timing, gamble24x7, waco, myjobisyou to some extent, has said I did nothing wrong yet you keep insisting I did. What should I do, you tell me? Please. -
Why do you keep saying the same braindead thing?
No, I just didn't see yours cause I was sleeping, not because I didn't want to accept your trade prior to the 3 day waiting periodOriginally Posted by DetUcf

You know I can't retroactively set the lineups so why do you keep saying I could have done something? Logically both should have been or not but I was fucking sleeping. The people who said I was in the wrong said this before they saw the timing of the trades which you fail to mention. It's useless when you say the same stupid statements over and over. Why has everyone said I didn't do anything wrong after they saw the timing of the trades? -
I have my own thoughts on the whole situation, I just don't feel like sharing them, outside of this... my recollection of previous trades in the league is that a couple went through after a day or so, a couple went through upon request of expedience, and none so far had gone through immediately upon notification of an acceptance.
However, I can't help myself not contributing something, so I think the best course of action would have been for you to come out with a statement like the following Leet8s, as soon as a couple people mentioned something on the league board.
"I'm sorry the 2nd trade didn't go through in time. I had already went to bed when it was accepted Sunday night and didn't see it until Monday. Unfortunately, Yahoo doesn't allow any changes after the rosters lock for the week, even by the commish.
Regarding the trade involving my team, I probably used a little bit of poor judgment by immediately sending it through. I wasn't trying to do anything "shady", but I can see how others might perceive the immediate knowledge I have of my trades to be an unfair advantage. As commissioner, I probably should have put a little more thought into how the situation might appear. I just wasn't thinking and I promise that in the future I will make sure that certain protocols are in place to avoid this sort of thing happening. Once again, I apologize." -
That's a nice political response but I'm not a politically correct person, I'm just a person who cares about the truth and doesn't mind speaking his mind.
Let's make it clear that Marc wanted me to expedite the trade so he could have the hitters he was looking for on his team on Monday. Let's not act like we came to an agreement and I immediately accepted it quickly without consulting Marc. I feel like consulting with the league is a non-issue when it involves our teams and it was a fair trade.
This whole situation would have never come up if like the fifth trade of the season didn't happen while I was sleeping. In addition, were there any posts on the message board from Marc or Clee saying they wanted it commish accepted ASAP? What if the trade was done while I was awake and didn't see a response from both of them saying to push it through? What if I did push it through anyway on precedence and then maybe one of them might have been angry because a pitcher of his had 2 starts that week?
The whole logistics of this are coming down to sheer "bad luck" of the trade happening while I was sleeping. However, what I will not take kindly to is cleeshay saying that I let his trade sit there and then after the fact I did nothing to correct the situation. He then is basically calling me out and he banned me from all his fantasy leagues and said how horrible of a person I am. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -
Well, yea lol. I basically told him that I didnt like how he handled himself in this situation (including msgs on the league page cursing and belittling someone else who didnt agree with how he did this) and didnt want to deal with it in the future. So if I run another league sometime, Im going to politely refuse his entry fee - not because I got an unfavorable ruling (after all, the entire time I said he should have just not rushed any trade through a veto period), but rather because I didnt like the way he handled himself.

Im well aware some are going to find that ridiculous, but I dont care. I do these leagues for fun, and if I dont want to participate with someone that takes a simple situation as "oh, Im sorry it wsnt there yet and I cant retroactively change lineups" to the cursing out other people who disagreed with him on the msg board, then I dont have to. -
I think everyone keeps focusing on the fact that there's no way you could have pushed through Clee's trade, and there's no way to go back and change this...but I think the issue is why are you pushing through trades at all? If there were prior trades people had made on Sunday nights that hadn't gone through, I think this becomes a very big deal, although I guess my opinion is the minority so who knows..
-
Hmmm, like we don't belittle people all the time in OT. Grow a sack, pussy (yea, more good language, wooooooo). If cursing is too much for you to handle then go play with the 5 year olds.
What about the first response from the guy who was said "I hope karma comes back to bit you and I hope something really bad happens to you" Yea, that's really nice, I feel so endeared.
I acted in the way I did because so many people just kept saying the same wrong facts over and over and fail to admit they are wrong. Clear example: YOU. You act like I just let your trade sit there, you act like I could have done something to change the lineups retroactively and you act like I was giving my team advantages over other teams although I did commish accept any trade earlier in the season if the two parties wanted to. Hey clee, don't you have some responsibility of posting on the message board that you want the trade commish accepted quickly too? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Even if I did see the trade and you and marc both don't say you want it commish accepted, then I wouldn't have pushed it through because I wasn't given an order to do so. So man up, admit your fault with the facts and stop being such a bitch. I like how you are trying to act like the civilized one with all your political talk yet you won't talk about the root of the issue which are the facts. -
Joining a commish league means that the commish can accept trades quickly so the players can join their new team's roster ASAP. There was precedent in the league where people asked for the trade to be quickly accepted and I did it. This was also during the 3-day waiting period and the trades were done on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

If the two people who accepted the trade want it commish accepted quickly, then why shouldnt they get that wish? We don't have to deal in hypotheticals in the quote above because that situation has happened before where I did accept it. That just shows to further my point that I would have commish accepted it had I seen it.
