  1. ESPN's current pole is "How would LeBron James fare in the NFL?

    Star 20%
    Solid player 44%
    Failure 36%

Anyone who comes to the conclusion he wouldn't immediately be one of the best players in the league, particularly at receiver, is an fucking idiot.

Maybe if he'd never played football before. Maybe. He was arguably the best player the class of 03 his sophomore year. No one would be able to stop him (at receiver). If he played tight end he'd still be in the top 3, probably in the top 5 if he played def end.

I can't believe people are ignorant enough to believe he wouldn't be effective in the NFL...lol, gtfo. Here's to you clowns
  2. i agree... but your name sure makes you credible...

Erm yeah, I disagree with that
  4. I was talking to my friend about this and he thought he would be terrible. My opinion was that he would make a great tight end.

This is prob the best option.
  6. lol @ him being a failure. it would take him a few weeks to learn the routes and all that, but he'd immediately become a top-5 TE and within a year, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the best TE in football.

the guy is 6'9, 270 ffs. He was an all-state WR in high school and recruited by da U (when they were running things in CFB), Ohio St, ND, etc.
  7. Kobe> Lebron

  9. fwiw, just heard cris carter and herm edwards on espnradio say LJ would be a star.
  10. How many great players in College have never panned out or been mediocre at best in the NFL? A ton. I'm not saying he wouldnt be a good receiver, but in aint a slam dunk.

  11. Lebron would not be a good NFL player.

But he would be a starter with the Browns.
    --------
Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates were very good college basketball players and are amongst the best tight ends in the game (Gonzalez a future hall of famer and Gates potentially). Neither would have been better than a 10th man on any NBA team at their peaks.

Lebron would get into games because they would HAVE to put him in - but you could never consider him to be anything but current-Vick-productive.

  12. Comparing HS football to the NFL makes you the idiot.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be good, but I think he'd need at least 3 years to adjust.

Saying he'd be auto probowler at 3 different positions is just fucking lol.
  13. repost

  15. LeBron James is one of the best athletes in the world. Period. If he made the switch, I would honestly bet my entire bankroll/life savings that he was a Pro Bowler within 2 years. He's that good. Maybe he wouldn't be that great of a blocking TE, but just running routes, creating separation with his speed, and catching the ball/making plays after the catch would make him a top-3 pass-catching TE quickly.

Look at guys like Antonio Gates. He didn't play college football at all, was told he couldn't make it in the NBA after 4 years of cbb, tried out for the Chargers and made the team, and in his second year, he caught 13 TDs and was one of the top TEs in football. You're crazy if you don't think LeBron could do something similar.

LOL. You sound like a rational individual. Get out of the house and get laid.
  17. Guess how many 5 star high school recruits amount to dick in the NCAA?

He damn well could be one hell of a player, but he's sure as shit not going to be a star at this point. Even if he were a GTD best QB in the league he'd be an idiot to leave basketball for the NFL.

2 years away from football and your shot is basically gone, just ask the man that started over Tom Brady in college. If you aren't playing football you sure as hell better be working your ass off to get a job playing football.
  18. no
  19. Maybe he should line up to block FG's. That's his only shot.
  20. 1) lebron would never leave the NBA for the NFL. contracts in the nba are guaranteed while nfl they arent

    2) ^^that being said doesnt mean i dont think he wouldnt be a hell of a nfl player. i guy with that athleticism speed and size dont come around that often and would certainly find a place in the nfl giving a few years to train

    3) if optimizing his skills meant he would be best suited to be a TE then why??? TE arent stars in the nfl wide receivers and qbs are.

    solid player
  21. barring injury top 3 te top ten wr possibly better

  24. I'm old enough to remember a semi-pro bballer named R.C. Owens who went on to play WR for the SF 49ers and became famous for catching the "alley oop" passes from QB Y.A. Tittle.

His forte was being so tall he came down with every jump ball thrown his way, and they used the alley oop play to score many touchdowns.

So yeah, LeBron would probably be a hella WR or TE either one.
  25. He'd be a good WR is he has good hands and legit NFL speed (anyone got a 40 time).

I think his skill translate best to LT if he could pack on 20-30lbs of mass and is stronger than I think he is (how many reps of 220?).
  26. You cant say for sure whether lebron would be a star or not in the nfl too many variable factors but my god with his ability he would have every chance to be one. guys a freak
  27. Oh and if anyone can be fucked explaining it what does a TE do? I know what being a wide reciever entails.
  28. Positive this validates everything I said

I'm not saying he'd leave the NBA for NFL...I think most people understand that's not really a possibility.

I understand most athletes can't and don't crossover to other sports successfully. But LeBron isn't most athletes. He's arguably the greatest athlete that's ever walked this planet as far as the combo of strength, jumping ability, speed, coordination, etc.

I think the fact that he's excelled at football in the past, is familiar with the game and is beyond most people's definition of an exceptional athlete, you'd be pretty foolish to believe he'd just suck and be a total failure.

I knew this post would inspire a handful of intelligent replies and a ton of dumb ones.

  30. He'd prob be a slot receiver if I had to guess, and I think he would probably be a beast, but you just don't know. There are certain intangible skills in every sport that just can't be measured outside of watching someone play.
