legal advice needed over bar fight

    May 1st was a Cinco de Moustache party at a local college bar. In the parking lot at about 2:15am, there were two groups of people left. A cab pulled up and i lean over to look inside to see if it is the cab driver that we called, i turn to look at my friend, and when i turn back towards the cab one of the guys was right in front of my face. I'm a big guy (6'4" 195 and fit) but this guy was bigger. The next thing that i remember is waking up surrounded by bouncers and spitting blood with a tooth loose and a hole in my lip.

    Apparantly i was out cold for a minute or two. I was drinking but i wasn't drunk, we pregamed and i had a few beers over 4 hours at the bar. I had no idea who it was but today at school my friend was telling the story from the other guys perspective because they are on the same sports team and heard him talking about how he "layed a mofo out cold for a cab lol" at the after party. I found him on facebook and my friend is going to ask about the details without disclosing that he knows me.

    What would you do?

    Confront him?
    File charges?
    Forget about it because you're graduating in 19 days?

    I was leaning towards charging him the whole time, just wanted to see what everyone thought. I'm extremely lucky that i fell on my elbow instead of the back of my head, eff this guy.

    I really hate pos's like that. Its hard to not retaliate man my instincts would push me twards fucking this guy up big time but in the end will only be trouble **sigh** I say you press charges then confront him letting him know his life is fucked now.

    Big goons love to run around KO'ing randoms to feel cool and fuel their image. Its all good and fun until one KO hits his head wrong on a curb as he falls. Then its GG innocent kid and manslaughter charges for the tough guy. Happened twice in one year my junior year in college.

    I'd find out where he lives, wait outside his place one morning with a sock with 2 rolls of quarters in it and smash him right across the face, but then again I'm the type of guy that doesn't give a fuck, in your case if you think this will affect you in some way, shape or form than I would just let it go

    Time is of the essence. You should have already filed a police report even if you didn't know who it was.

    Did you take pictures? Hopefully you did because you more than likely don't look as bad now as you did the morning after.

    The more time that passes by, the less seriously your case and story will be taken.

    the judge generally just threw out the cases

    Do NOT do this. I learned the hard way that a tubesock with rocks in it = assault with a deadly weapon if cops really want to throw the book at you. In the eyes of the law, this is no different than taking a knife, bat, chain or pipe into a fight.

    If youre in your early 20's your ego is probably telling you to get him back. 9 times out of 10 that approach leads to shit escalating way out of control or legal problems for the retaliator, (YOU). Either do nothing or file charges, you're not a minor anymore.

    point taken...here's a better option, find out what kind of car he drives and if he ever leaves it unlocked at some point in time, at night/at school etc. etc. make sure your not in view of any security cameras and drop a couple of grams of meth under his seat, call cops from payphone and tell them you are a concerned citizen who may have witnessed some shady drug deal, give them the plate number...profit, damn Im a sick bastard
