my buddy is a big liddell fan... so ill be rooting for the other guy.
-
If Rua is on top of his game, then Id say he wins 80% of the time, but as seen in the Griffen fight, he was way out of shape, and was spent by the 2nd round. That uppercut Liddel tried to land vs Evans pretty much made me loose alot of respect for him as a skilled fighter. And I really dont see him beating any1 else if he tries to punch like that.
-
Liddell isn't going to lose this fight. I think he has too much heart and will stop at nothing to avenge getting embarrassed. A tank wouldn't be able to take him down this time. If an asteroid was minutes away from colliding with the earth tomorrow night, we could fire Chuck Liddell into space to take it out. That's how pumped he's going to be.
-
Everyone's talking how Liddell's either gonna win by brutal TKO to get back in the mix, or he's gonna grind out a decision if he's over the hill.
Rua is still young people. And don't think he hasn't been working cardio every day since that last mess of a fight against Coleman. I think Rua will come into the fight WAY more prepared (he was coming off 2 surgeries too, against Coleman) and I think it will be a great great fight.
I can't call it, but I'll take a stab anyways. Rua, 2nd rd. TKO? -
Rua is off the roids and can no longer hang w/ mid-level pros.
or so i've heard. -
yeah I heard that too. but I can't help but think he's actually training for this fight. Roids don't give you skill, and he had some sick technique back in the day. Hard to think that's just disappeared.
That said, I hope Liddell makes a strong showing. -
liddell isn't very good anymore. Now that the UFC actually has a deep talent pool, retards who just swing for the fence like cchucky cheese are washed up. in a stacked LHW division this fight is over-hyped.
-
Liddell is a lucky one punch fighter. If he gets lucky, he will win.
-
I WANT TO HEAR WHAT DR HOUSE HAS TO SAY
-
The best MMA sports bet picker actually likes Rua at the current line.
I like Liddell at -200 all day. -
any1 that thinks chuck is just some lucky punch one hit wonder doesnt know a thing about MMA, he has one of the best takedown defenses in the game and his wrestling is very underrated.
-
This is actually going to be a very interesting fight. Obv a bit more competitive then the Main Event. Silva is just a freak.
Okay, first, anyone saying Liddel is overrated is out of their minds! He has great skills in both his striking, in particular his counter striking, his wrestling is great, and his takedown defense is only surpassed by B.J. Penn and GSP. It's sfhard to put that man on the mat. Only thing is that he has relied on the same strategy to pull him through all of his fights, and it worked for quite awhile. But, now that guys are really starting to figure out how to exploit that strategy, he has to change it up.
And that's just what he's doing. He's finally getting out of The Pit and working with other camps, and one of which is American Top Team, which is an AMAZING camp with some really top top fighters.
So, will his strategy be the same? Maybe, but since he's changing everything, or I think he is, I have no idea what type of strategy he'll employ. But he'll be in good shape, and his skills will be sharp.
Rua...skilled as all hell, but has been fuxed by injuries and adjusting to the cage. Cage is much harder to fight in then a ring, especially for his style. The ring is more geared toward striking. Cage is a bit more difficult as there are no corners and the fence can be used (well, similar to the ropes, but moreso) both defensively and offensively. That, and he's fighting in the U.S.
He's had two knee surgeries, which is HUGE! Because you can't do shit for skill training, and you can't do dick squat for conditioning. So, he's lost alot of time. We all know he looked AWFUL against Coleman. His skill was there, but his cardio was just...yeah.
I'd say Chuck has the advantage 70>30 because he's branching out beyond his usual camp. However, if Rua comes in great shape, that advantage shrinks and either becomes dead even or a 55>45 in Rua.
We know Chuck will come in shape and ready. The question in this fight is will Rua?
Edit - Essentially, in my opinion, if Rua (assuming he comes in poor to decent shape) wants to win he has to get it done early. The longer this fight goes the more the edge goes to Chuck. -
Its a toss up on this. Maybe 60/40 chuck.
