lol at questioning bobby cox, ever hear of saving the bullpen? like a pitcher has never given up 4 runs in an inning before and stayed in the game! no offense believer this post is fuckin retarded
-
bobby is a guru
-
oh
-
If Cox had any clue about pulling his pitchers when they get in trouble, the Braves would have six or eight world championships over his tenure instead of one.
No pitcher worth his salt wants to get the hook, but I think deep down inside, they would prefer to have the manager come out and pull them before their team gets put into a losing situation and their ERA goes through the roof.
Anybody who thinks Cox's handling of the pitchers is okay and hasn't hurt the team's chances haven't watched the Braves night in and night out over many seasons. If they had they wouldn't make such clueless assertions about Cox's supposed omnipotence as a manager. -
Bobby Cox lost the respect I had for him when he brought in Charlie Liebrandt to face Kirby Puckett with the game on the line in game 6.
Edit: I did not even see above post about costing them championships when I made my post. -
the point is that bobby cox will still know more about baseball ten days after he's dead than anyone who will post in this thread

it's a long season he has to show faith in his pitchers(seems that confidence may be an important part plus not blowing out his bullpen
its incredible that while braves' management has cut the payroll out from under him the last 5 years and he has still put a quality team out there, that he gets grief like this
it's wrong to be hyper critical -
And I always thought the Braves' sorry ass late relief hurt their chances of winning multiple championships in the 90's, who would have thought it was Cox running with the starters too long? Certainly not Mark Wholers or any of the other superstar closers for the Braves during those years.
-
Seriously. Bring in Charlie freaking Liebrandt to face Kirby Puckett? WTF was he thinking?
-
Just LOL at somebody from Pineville, West Virginia who has seen maybe two dozen Braves games in their entire life being "hyper critical" of people who have watched this team over hundreds and thousands of games and thinking they don't know what they're talking about.

Nobody said he wasn't a great manager or that he wasn't going to the HOF or that his players don't love hime or that he has managed to field a decent team despite payroll cuts. This thread was about his inability to bring himself to the harsh task of pulling a good pitcher having a bad outing before it cost his team a chance to win the game.
Please stick to issues where you have the depth of knowledge and understanding to make realistic comments instead of ragging on the people who actually DO know.
Better still just do what you do best, post the NSFW pics we all enjoy. -
Slick
He happens to be a HUGE HUGE Braves fan.... huge watches and follows every game as well as minors -
You do understand that they play these games on those little boxes that people keep in their living rooms right?

PS-
I think your beef is actually with Leo Mazzone and Roger McDowell sport. -
LOL - You mean realistic comments like saying the Cox' inability to pull pitchers cost the Braves 7 additional World Series championships?
-
