Released today, pretty stoked about seeing The Stooges, Pearl Jam, Daft Punk, The Roots, The Black Keys, and a handful of others. Too much Interpol, Snow Patrol-type crap though, and folk bs..
Who's going? I kinda think the Bonnaroo lineup might be better... -
I kinda think the Bonnaroo lineup might be better...
It is -
ya outside of Pearl Jam who I've seen before back in their heyday i'm not real excited about these groups
-
I would say the lineups are comparable bc there definitely is some crossover but The Police, Tool, Wolfmother, Franz, Dave Attell, and David Cross put Bonnaroo over the top. I don't like all the folk garbage at Lollapalooza and there is too many trashy indie bands that somehow are on major labels - for ex., Muse. At Bonnaroo that stuff is replaced w/ cool jazz bands like Galactic and Ornette Coleman and some decent jam bands.
I've never seen PJ though, I'm a huge Stooges fan, and I'm seeing the Police at Wrigley so I guess it's not so bad... but they really need a couple more bands like Wolfmother to come rock the place, instead of another crappy dreary band that wishes they were British. Interpol, My Morning Jacket, and Snow Patrol are such a waste of time.. -
I don't think there close..Bonnaro also has Panic, Ben Harper, The White Stripes & Wilco which are all real good.
-
Not that good. Panic is ok I suppose but I would take Slightly Stoopid and Soulive over them. Also Ben Harper is at Lollapalooza. Perry Farrell's new band Satellite party might be good too
-
Actually, you want to see a Bonnaroo-type line up, check out Coachella, and the return of Rage.

isn't john butler trio playing at bonaroo??

Man I feel like Brooks from "Shawshank Redemption" right now. Totally institutionalised by the interweb. A few years ago I see a thread about lollopalooza and I know it's about a concert, today I think it's going to be a hilariously funny thread or something. GG everyone, I'm off to carve my name in my cieling.
Jose was here -
I definetly think that the lineup was better last year, but I am pretty stoked for Lollapalooza. Im curious about the OP who was talking about "folk bs" bands that are playing this year, I dont think there is many folky bands on this lineup at all, especially compared to last year. If anyone is going, I would recommend checking out; TV on the Radio, The Hold Steady, Peter Bjorn and John, and The Annuals.

az1969, Coachella sold out in a millisecond but I love Rage so I am going to the Rock the Bells festival in NYC. Wu-Tang also frigging rips..
Twincity, I Myspaced a lot of the bands on the Lollapalooza lineup that I was unfamiliar w/ and many of them are folk-type music. And some categorized themselves as "Rock" but it sounded like folk-rolk to me. Point being, they need to get Wolfmother to play and/or another heavier band, maybe NIN or something...
Someone told me there are still 50 bands or so that have yet to be named so I'm going to keep my hopes up for a headliner that rocks harder than frigging Muse or Modest Mouse.
