I need a car this summer for a couple of months. I was trying to find a deal without breaking the BR, so far with no success. Anyone got any pointers or ideas on where to find a good deal? oh, FYI the city I need the car in is Anchorage, AK, where the prices seem really high (monthly rates might as well = daily rates). thx.

Just buy a random shitbox and drive it into the Pacific Ocean at the end of the summer.

Buy a crappy older car that runs ok and sell it after your done. I imagine a two month rental would be expensive especially at daily rates. I had a shitty Hyundai for six weeks after some uninsured, no licesense having jack ass hit me in January and the bill was like $800 bucks. Luckily my insurance paid it.
Edit: not fast enough I guess -
Check Alaskan newspapers online for classifieds - people selling a car cheap that you can just drive into the ground?
Call the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce (if they have one) and ask for a used car dealer in town that would have really low cost cars.
EDIT - Wow, they do have one! Call them - they love helping out with this shit.

Sounds like you just need wheels - doesn't matter what it looks like.
Good luck! -
thx for the help guys, cruizr.

You dont even have to drive it into the ocean.
You can probably sell it in two months for what you paid for it. -
as someone who works for a rental car company I agree with everyone else in just buying a cheap veh. the cheapest i have seen in a while for a month is about $700 plus tax so there you go.
