  1. I don't know much about cars, but would like to supercharge mine. I am wondering what the cost for something like this would be for parts and labor. Also, what parts will I need and what will I have to change etc. I have a few friends who are really into this type of thing but have gotten some different responses based on prices. I know of a place near me called modular depot that specializes in mustangs and understand that they are more expensive due to being a specialty shop. Any advice would be great. Thanks

  2. If you're gonna supercharge a '99-04 model Mustang V8, you're going to spend a shit load of money to make sure the internals and drivetrain can handle it.

You're going to need forged pistons/heads, a enhanced computer chip, a stronger rear end, a performance clutch/transmission, not to mention a new gear ratio and a wider rim and tire.

And that's just aside from the supercharger and everything that comes with it. And the labor you're going to pay to have it put in (I assume your friends can't tear down the 4.6L modular engine on their own, can they?)

All that said, I'm assuming you want to 'charge it to a pretty reasonable PSI load (something along the lines of 10-14 PSI). You could probably put in a little girlie supercharge (6 PSI or so) without beefing up the internals and your car would handle it for a little while.

Do yourself a favor and start making the other upgrades to your car first. Get your new rear end, transmission, computer chip, heads, etc and do the supercharger last. Unless you've got 15,000 to blow on it all at once, its better to do the project in installments. And hell, if you had that much money to spend, just use it and trade in your car for a Saleen (they come supercharged)

And don't get excited if someone says "they can do it for you" for an oddly low-cost, and that your car "should be able to handle it". They're not going to do it the right way, and your car will end up fucked over.
  3. edit: You've got multiple 5 digit scores. Just buy a fuckin' Saleen. Way more fun, and its gonna be way more stable for you at the end of the day then trying to upgrade the standard GT model.

double edit: And from Kentucky, too? How bout them Cats?
  4. Patrolman sounds like a great idea to throw a blower on your stang. Im a huge ford fan myself, I own an 01 F150 SVT Lightning pickup. Supercharged from the factory they made 380hp, mine now is about 500hp. After doing some research online I came to the conclusion that JDM Engineering in Freehold NJ was the best Ford tuner around. Check out there website www.teamjdm.com for some info on them. They do great work on all the Ford modular motors, supercar GTs, Lightnings, cobras, and new 05 and up mustangs, GT 500s. They dont have any blower kits for 04 mustangs besides a cobra upgrade kit. But you will def need a retune for your computer after u put any blower kit on your stang. I highly recommend them any questions feel free to pm me.... good luck with any kit u decide to throw on your car.

Add a 6-figure score to the list

  7. Foose, that will give you a great start and build on further from that.
  8. When i first got my lightning i was looking at the srt 10 rams but they were 50k... I bought my lightning used for 18k and put 10+ into it and it will smoke a 50k srt 10 ram...sometimes its not about throwing money around to buy a quick vehicle when if u do a little homework u can build something quicker. Also not every saleen is supercharged.... I agree the internals might not handle alot of boost but if u use an intercooler and have a safe tune on your car you will be ok for a long time
