2005 U.S. Women’s Open (LPGA) 69-73-72-82=296
Granted a US open is going to be set up tougher than this tourny, but by your logic there would be NO way it was possible for her to shoot a final round 82 after shooting 69 73 72... -
If you don't mind showing me the mathmatical formula you used to find out it was impossible for Wie to shoot 77 if she played today at the state farm and how it is possible to shoot 9 shots higher the previous 3 days at the open.
Once it checks out and is proven accurate, then I will agree with the fact that my point was invalid and I "failed" -
the fact that you and this other guy who have been members here for a while but rarely post are all over this thread, speaks volumes as to your passion on this topic...
can't argue with ppl who already have their minds made up... I didn't post in this thread to take the stance that Wie has proven herself on the pro tour, cuz she obv hasn't yet, but you guys are being so unfair it's absurd... let it shake out a little bit before you guys jump to conclusions and say stuff like "she is trash" etc... ridiculous
yea if that is what you guys said, and left it at that, that's totally fair... but just a bunch of jealous vitriol in here from some washed up high school golfers... -
"Statistically impossible." If something is humanly possible to do, then it can happen. People have shot 90 the 4th round in professional events I am sure. But that is an anomally, not the norm. Stop comparing anything Michelle Wie did to the hurricane force winds at the British Open.
Basically, your whole logic is FAIL. Thanks for trying though. -
cuz everyone who hates on Wie is always someone who takes golf very seriously... the casual fan doesn't harbor this type of hate for her that you guys do... just something I noticed
-
yea... it's this attitude I am talking about ^^^
wow you play golf, so you are certainly qualified to hate on Wie... -
I hate to get into these little pissing matches and rarley post because that seems to be what happens here in OT.
I'm not sure how im being "unfair" but I am entitled to my opinion and that is all I expressed.
When I said she was trash I ment it ONLY as a golfer. I attempted to explain this in a post later. I should not have said she was trash.
Again I'm not seeing the jealousy issues here. I find it hard to be jealous of somone that has acomplished so little as a golfer. But if thats what you think, no worries. -
It is probably jealousy of her endorsement contracts and TV exposure. She has not proven herself yet, but she is still 18. Paula Creamer only became a star between ages 18-21. Let's revisit this in 3 years time.
-
The "casual fan" doesnt tend to know any better. This would be like me saying Anna Kournikova was an amazing tennis player. I am a causal tennis and know who she is, so she must be great. But any avid ladies tennis fan would prob have a solid argument against that statment.

Im having a hard time seeing how pointing out that someone is over hyped and isnt as good as the media portrays and being a student of the game have anything to do with each other.
-
she is playing the game you clearly love for a lucrative living... if that fact didn't bother you then you wouldn't have posted in this thread... just my read
if you lurk this site you know my posts are always fair... I pride myself on not showing favoritism or bias... just telling you how you come across in this thread, it may not be jealousy but it is something, bitterness or sexism perhaps...
bottom line is you are trashing an 18 yr old girl for not getting it done yet professionally... just give it some time before you call her a "trash" golfer... I know a whole shit ton of ppl that would love to be as trashy a golfer as her -
Just give it time WacoKidd says. I just stated above that paula creamer made her name on the LPGA Tour between 18-21. Let's re-visit this topic in 3 years.
-
You are right, it does bother me. What bothers me is she is held to a level at which she can not preform at. Now, this isnt totally her fault either. The media took the rains and tryed to turn her into the womens version of tiger. But she ran with it. With the big endorsments and trying to play on the PGA (which im not even go to start on)
You say im trashing her, but in reality I am only pointing out the blatantly obvious.
btw congrats on taking down the $30r last night. -
I agree... like I said I am not here to defend Michelle Wie as a successful golf pro, and the media and some dumb comments from a teenage girl (shocker) have over hyped her... I was just pointing out that statements like "she is trash" are absurd and reek of jealousy and/or hate, and that she is only 18 and deserves more time before we say she is a failure... I think both of those points are fair
thanks for the congrats, was a fun tourney...
