  1. I do not post often but felt the need to post this bit of information I have learned by a book I recently read on vacation to Europe (long flights = long books.) It is The God Delusion, basically against God and all that is religion (but I do not wish to start religious debate.) Put religious issues to the side and let us use science for one second.

Now, imagine if you will there are many other solar systems out there (which is fact.) There are also millions of millions of planets. Each of these planets reside in solar systems, and the solar system has to have one giant star for it to support life. Not only that, it has to house a planet that is close enough to warm it up and far enough away to make it a living condition planet (as far as we know about life that is, which requires h2o.) Now lets venture into the likelihood of which one of these millions of millions of planets is capable of life. Very very slim, some scientists have said maybe 1/100 million (think of those odds if you will.) As I was reading this it made me think, how great the odds of hitting a one or two outter are versus the extremities of having life on a planet.

This, in retrospect had me laughing at how mad I was when I got hit by a 2 outter to avoid my first big cash coming through the ranks. What we should all marvel at is the luckiness of each of our individual lives to be here, rather than the probabilities of poker. Sure they are quite mishappenings when you get hit by a miracle, but think of the miracle that puts breath into each of us 'lucky' souls on this 'lucky' planet in this 'lucky' universe. This is just an epiphany to me and I hope this article is a quick reminder.

  2. didn't read your post

    GTFO

edit - for the record, I made my original post when this showed up in PD. now that it is in OT...

    SRSLY GTFO
  3. What wans not mentioned in the post was that he was also drinking on the flight.
  4. DUDE!!!

    wait.................what
  5. I see why you don't post often.
  6. good read.. but to argue a little with this scientist who said that its "maybe" 1/100 mil that there is another planet in the universe that has life on it..
How egocentric can a man be when he is saying that there are no other life in universe, or just "maybe"
there are milions, bilions gafuckingzillions of other planets, solar system and stars that we like to call the sun out there..
Just cause mankind is so far behind in evolution, that we cant even send people to mars, or not even close to getting somewhere beyond our solarsystem that is so small if u think about it...
The human rase says to be superior, but some can not even wipe their own ass, much more likely know if there is life in space..
Ofcourse there are life in space.. do anyone think that we, humans, earth is the only planet in the whole universe that can provide life..
    ah ahh..
The human rase is a bunch of neandertals, troglodits or whatever, who lives on this planet we call earth, just wondering around not knowing why we are here or for what purpose we where put on this planet.. we are a bunch of stupid imbecills who wouldnt know what is upp and what is down if it wasnt for that the sky is blue and ground is dark..

Know, im not saying i dont enjoy life, i sure as hell do.. but i think mankind could do so much more, we only use like 7% of our brain.. imagine beeing able to use the whole shit.. we would be living on mars, getting ice to our drinks from pluto, and having the WSOP outside our galaxy..
  7. sowers owns you all should gtfo

I think he really proved his own point on this one.
  9. "rase is a bunch of neandertals, troglodits "

    wow. crack open a dictionary.
  10. you donkeys God made us all. everythings to perfect to appear by chance and no we dident come from monkeys theres no facts or proof for anything.

to show you how dumb people are... if you dont believe in God and Jesus and the bible like a atheist... you have no upside. if your wrong your screwed right

so if you believe you win either way. and you wonder why people are bad at poker lol

  11. But, I think the problem with these sorts of "science" arguments is that it practically screams that there must be a God.

Ok, so there is "only" 1-100million if there was even a habitable planet. Then, if there is, you have to imagine that life has to fall just right (if those cells don't split just on time hundreds of millions of years ago, then there are no dinosaurs, let alone humans.

But, think about it further, your parents have to have sex just how they did, since his exact sperm (and it's competing with thousands) has to fertilize that exact egg in your mom. If that doesn't happen, you arent' here (so, little things like what position they were doing (or that mom wasn't drunk enough to give head to dad that night), is the only reason your here (and think about it, when there are situations where the mother has 2 eggs and it's fertilized separately (so you have non identical twins) those twins are nothing alike, even at birth. They are definitely different people.

So, just the odds that you'll be here if your dad meets your mom is in the millions to 1. If you start adding the odds, you should really win the lottery twice a day for the next thousdand years, and that still has better odds than you would to be born.

After awhile, the odds are absurd. There has to be something that shrinks those odds to some extent, and that is God.
  12. And you are?
  13. plz die
  14. i love lamp
  15. do usualy OTers have a hard time reading anything longer than 4 sentences. Cause i sure as shit do
  16. I'm starting to think Jesse Ventura was right.
  17. anyone that has common sense knows it makes no sense not to believe in the bible. like i stated above no one can argue this becuase the % proves me right if you believe you are 100% safe no matter what. if you dont you have a 50% chance of getting screwed.

its like playing a million dollar pot in poker and you have a choice of winning 50% of the time or less or winning 100% of the time. what do you choose? obv 100%

  18. wouldnt god know that u believed in him based on this theory though and not allow u into heaven anyway?
  19. no trafficking i actually really do believe. but i was posting this to try and prove a point on how it makes no sense not to and try to figure out their perspective on it

  20. OK OK .. So What do the Alien's "Life on other planets" Look Like ?
    or or
    oror
    oror
    oror
  21. Disregarding the double/triple negative, your first statement can be summed up with a big, hearty, GTFO!

Anyone with commone sense would know that the bible was created by man, and a lot of it hundreds of years after events supposedly happened, and to trust it as fact is clearly ridiculous.

Could there be a 'God'? I don't know, maybe, maybe not, but I would bet everything that it isn't the God sitting in the bible, the one made up to scare a bunch of people into living like slaves so that a very few could prosper and control.
  22. i think you all got the the 1 in 100 million bit wrong.....for every 100 million stars in the universe there is possibly 1 star that has a planet in its orbit which can support life.....from what man knows about the size of the universe that means there is approx 20 billion chances of this happening....meaning it is almost certain there is life beyond earth
  23. This is for the Troglodits guy.

  24. R U Nuts for President!
  25. Read "The 6 numbers that define the universe"
  26. I'm no math whiz, but I think the odds of humans just climbing out of the primordial ooze, finding & breeding, & then making our long dead ancestors, are roughly the same odds as say... finding a 2007 Ford on the moon... The body is way too complex, I don't buy that much "random chance"

Big surprise that OT likes to get OT.

    Sowers,

God or no God -- YES -- we're very lucky.
