Yay fantasy baseball time is nigh!
I was offered Matt Wieters and Gordan Beckham for Russell Martin and Dustin Pedroia and obviously declined, though I think it is actually a much closer trade than one may think at first.
The manager then countered with what looks tempting to me, along with saying he's a Sox fan (as I am, but I don't let it affect my managing) and he absolutely needs Pedroia.
He sends me Wieters, Beckham, Kendry Morales, and Manny Ramirez.
I send him Martin, Pedroia, Pablo Sandoval, and Carlos Beltran.
Ramirez and Beltran are both old guy risks.
Morales and Sandoval are both fat or hurt guy risks.
I think Ramirez and Morales have more upside than their counterparts here, though.
Oh yeah, it is a head-to-head points league with pretty standard scoring.
Do Wieters and Beckham deliver enough this year? Will Martin produce again in the Yankees lineup? Will he even hold the starting job?
Any input? -
you already drafted, before spring training starts?
-
Just checked out yahoo's ranking for the year-I realize they change after spring training but initial thoughts were Rollins @ #40 was pretty lol...Also I hope Latos stays as #20 ranked pitcher, #74 ovr as I'll get him all my leagues.

As for the trade by OP, I wouldn't do it since Pedroia's the best player in the deal-he was top 10 before he got hurt last year if I remember correctly. -
Although I'm an educated man, I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently on the scoring habits of standard points leagues. That said, I'm more a fan of the Wieters grouping in a vacuum. More upside without a tremendous amount of risk.
But an even better question is why are you looking to trade ~15% of your team a few days after the draft? I mean, have you already changed your mind on the players you presumably wanted? Did you see an article in the paper about Beckham looking surprisingly spry in a game of pepper at a pre-camp workout? You're getting a little power for speed exchange, but I doubt that is the motivation. -
Beltran is 33. if he is healthy, age is not really an issue yet. I mean, he isn't in his prime or anything, but let's not act like this guy is a huge risk. he will produce if healthy

Tough luck tonight in the $33 NL. I honestly needed it tho after getting 8th in the 14.5k gtd hod'em on Tilt losing a 2.7 million chip pot Aces vs 10's.

In regards to this trade, I would say absolutely no way... Kendry Morales is a stud, but he is still a question mark for opening day (whereas Pedroia seems to be completely healed). I think that Pablo is a huge bounce-back candidate this year and his upside is substantial, and could possibly even match Morales' overall numbers (not to mention that 3rd base talent is MUCH more shallow for talent than 1st base is). I also think that obviously giving Pedroia would Beckham would be an obvious downgrade.
If I were you, and you really wanna move Pedroia, I would counter with Pedroia/Beltran for Beckham/Morales... if he truly is a sox fan that obsessed with getting Pedroia he might take it. Based on ADP its really a quite reasonable trade 21 and 126 for 53 and 125. -
Like this side: Martin, Pedroia, Pablo Sandoval, and Carlos Beltran

I'm likin Pablo a lot this year
