  1. People growing marijuana indoors use 1 percent of the U.S. electricity supply, and they create 17 million metric tons of carbon dioxide every year (not counting the smoke exhaled) according to a report by Evan Mills, an energy analyst at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Reason: links are the same, wasn't sure so kept both.
  2. strong arguments for increased investment in and utilization of nuclear and other clean power sources ITT
  3. so if the us produces 5833 million tons, that 1% of energy use = .0029% of emissions (5833 from here so its prob a high estimate)

seems pretty efficient to me, especially since it looked like that guy just went ahead and guessed how much comes from the transport etc. etc.

i dont get what this is supposed to mean
  4. It is a $50billion/year cash crop.
  5. lol that theres ANY chance that they could even come close to using 1% of US power. its hilarious how far off people's conceptions are about overall power consumption.

  6. if we would just legalize it, then people wouldnt have to grow it in hiding anymore. No more problem.
  7. You're ignoring the fact that stoners stay home, don't drive much, and generally use less energy b/c of their marijuana use.

    Marijuana is the solution. again
  8. While I find this amusing, I have a difficult time believing anything reported by a SF outlet.

Legalize that shit already. The cuts in government spending would be fantastic.

It's too bad the livelihoods of (hundreds of?) thousands of people are dependent on marijuana prohibition. People in every phase of the Justice system, from federal to local, would lose jobs. DEA, to prisons to municipal courthouses. Legalization at this point would probably be political suicide with unemployment where it is already.

Reason: Thought article was from different paper.
  9. no info on how much CO2 the plants remove from the atmosphere though I see. Report is kinda glass is half empty.

  10. Tell me...do you and UD mutually masturbate before you create daily threads about retarded articles?

  13. let's not forget the U.S. economy would grind to a halt if everybody stopped smoking weed one day.

no way the world can tolerate turds like evan mills without smoking.

  14. The funny part to me is how they know everyone who is using the power. Theyre watching you! Damn you space telescopes spying on mai stash!

The power < fight The power.
  15. hey guys i just smoked a bowl, so theres no way im reading all the words itt

    ;)
  16. Going to the 1st Annual Green Relief Expo in Arizona tomorrow and applying for my card.

Finally we can get a taste of what Cali and Colorado have had.
  17. Anyone who wants it, gets it easy. The "legality" of it doesn't deter anyone.

  18. I almost never get freebies or one-wipers, whatever you want to call turds that dont require major cleanup. I stuck by the Howard Stern school of thought that if you have to wipre more than once, you must shower. On average I was taking 2 turd related showers a day. The average shower costs $2.20. I make mj brownies @ ~ $3.50/brownie and eat one every day. Now I take one-wipers 6x a week. I save $.70/day by eating mj brownies
  19. Legalized and taxed Marijuana, combined with the according funding cuts to the "war on drugs," would have a tremendous effect on the U.S. economy and governmental deficits.
  20. my mouth tastes funny

  21. Doesn't smoking mariHuana make you want to commit murder and rape? Nice now we found more efficient way to kill everything. Damn scientist gonna hate. Propaganda.
  22. Make it legal then it can be grown in green houses outside instead of hidden away with massive electric bulbs in the loft.....job done!
  23. I just smoked a joint, what happened?

Obviously you didn't take into a count the power used for hours and hours of video game, Comedy Central, Cheech and Chong DVDs and refrigerator light on while looking for a snack consumption.
  27. would it really cost that many jobs? pretty sure prisons are all overfull. seems like we got enough unsolved crimes to make up for the dank smokers, no?
