DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Iowa couple who was married for 72 years died one hour apart last week in the hospital as they held hands. Photos: Family Pictures Of Gordon and Norma Family said the story of Gordon, 94, and Norma Yeager, 90, is a real-life love story.
  2. perfect ending, wp Iowegians.
  3. wow

my grandparents were married for 58 years. Gramps died in February and Grandmother is on death bed as we speak.

Crazy how people give up on life after they lose the one they love.

  4. My wife and I will die just a few minutes apart. Her first obv.
  5. What's surprising as well is that ppl still live til' 90 yrs old with all the shit they give you to eat in the U.S.

Not so surprising considering we pioneer most of the advancements in medical technology. Capitalism both giveth and taketh away.

No, Capitalism clearly creates a disparity wealth, which is a problem because wealth is what drives production. In Communism (Marx) production is driven work:leisure duality; in this scenario wealth would be a archaic notion. You have to understand that in communism (Marx) the concept of human nature is different than during the capitalist epoch.

Now if you want to want talk about communism (lennin, et. al.) then I agree, but I would characterize that more as Totalitarian Capitalism.

Regardless I was speaking more to the point that capitalism is a double edged sword, in the race for profits we create good and bad based on consumer demand. Convenience and war created the food processing revolution in this country, which has had done a lot of good, but has also altered our diet in harmful way.

the food poisonning done nowadays in the U.S.and the world has only one reason : profits ,whatever its origins are .
and what are the advancements in medical technology you talking about ?
  11. My grandparents were married for 65 years and Grandma just passed away last weekend, funeral was on Monday. As in the OP they were a true love story. Grandpa stayed at the hospital by himself on the last night she was alive. He also stayed in the room all night holding hands until she passed. Everyone in the family just wishes they could have gone together and nobody expects him to last another year. He was holding on for her and now that she is gone, he is ready to go as well. So sad to see him all alone now after having someone there for the last 65+ years.

exactly... a few months ago an old lady ran a stop light in town and got smoked by a semi going 45 mph down the road that had no shot at stopping. she died, and nobody else did, but what if... there should be a mandatory driving test every year for people over the age of 65 if they want to keep their DLs
