sigh, the trolls just keep getting dumber

IT's even from CNN
About 90 percent of U.S. kids ages 8 to 16 play video games, and they spend about 13 hours a week doing so (more if you're a boy). Now a new study suggests virtual violence in these games may make kids more aggressive in real life.
Kids in both the U.S. and Japan who reported playing lots of violent video games had more aggressive behavior months later than their peers who did not, according to the study, which appears in the November issue of the journal Pediatrics.

I wish I were semi-educated.

i don't think its that big a stretch to believe constant exposure to violent gaming has a numbing effect and perpetuates more violence in kids.

VIDEO GAMES DON'T MAKE YOU KILL PEOPLE.

Video game 'sparked hammer murder'
July 29, 2004

Campaigners are stepping up pressure for a violent video game to be banned after it was blamed for the horrific murder of a 14-year-old British boy by an older friend.
The game, Manhunt, is described by its promoters as a "sado-masochistic" game in which players gain extra points depending on the viciousness of their killings.
Warren Leblanc faces a life sentence for repeatedly battering Stefan Pakeerah with a claw hammer and stabbing him to death after luring him to a local park in Leicester, in the English Midlands.

The 17-year-old pleaded guilty to murder at Leicester Crown Court Wednesday.
Britain's Daily Mail Thursday carried a front page headline: "Murder by Playstation" and another saying: "Horror images on computer drove teenager to kill his friend aged 14."
Outside the court, Stefan's parents said Leblanc had mimicked a game called Manhunt, made by Rockstar for platforms including Playstation 2, in which the players score points for violent killings. -
So that video game made that kid kill someone? He got his morals from a video game telling him it is right to kill someone and this is what life is, that there will be no consequences that murder is acceptable. So this kid never ever saw the world, somehow (even before this game was made) and just learned about what the world is like through this game called "manhunt".

Similiar study about guys who watch a lot of porn and how it affects intimacy in real world. Not that hard to realize that constant videos don't go in your mind which is why most porn sites don't have 'rape videos' or very few of emOriginally Posted by Rise_N_Grind

Level 1 thinking
It could be in his subconscious and have had an impact in shaping the way someone thinks. I don't think a normal person would say what I bolded but to say that it couldn't have had an influence is incorrect as wellOriginally Posted by Hateflops

Actually I'm not a troll, I read OT in my spare time at night which is little because I work full time and in University full time. Someone with almost 7k post must write of a lot posts to get a meaningless number so high, and I'm guessing they were mostly like the one I quoted.
Like most forums the higher the post count the lower the IQ gets, with a few exceptions. Have a nice day. -

I don't think this is that far of a stretch. People get their morals from a multitude of different inputs. Why is it so unbelievable that constantly subjecting yourself to violent imagery would warp your perspective even a little? -
i think it is not as simple as people are trying to make it out to be. obv there are tons of kids who play vid games and turn out not to be murderers, the vid games can still have some effect on them, but this effect is prob almost always dissipated by the other factors that are playing a part in their life. on the other hand for a small group of kids there is prob the chance that vid games can actually result in violence bc they are missing out on other forces in their lifes that would balance out the vid games.

Seems obvious violent games and movies desensitize you
