In general, I think gun control is a good thing. I think there should be limits on what and how many weapons one can have. That said, 70+ people were killed in Norway last year and from what I understand, Norway has much stricter gun laws.

armed people vs gunman > unarmed people vs gunman imo
The bottom line of this, is that it is hard to stop someone from shooting up soft targets if they so please. It is collateral damage for the freedoms we enjoy in this and other countries. -
1927, way worse.

No. There was a mass shooting at a Luby's restaurant in Texas in 1991 and I am sure there were some before that even. The Columbine shooters didn't start anything.
Def been going on for a while. This is the first big one i remember in the news.

The San Ysidro McDonald's massacre was an incident of mass murder that occurred on July 18, 1984, in a McDonald's restaurant in the San Ysidro section of San Diego, California. The shootings resulted in 21 people killed and 19 others injured. -
Blame the parents for not identifying and acting on the problem this individual clearly had.
-
Did we figure out yet if TheWacoKidd did this?
Too soon? -
Obv he is to blame....what i was trying to say is blaming guns and video games is not rational, but blaming the parents who raised this guy is.

and obviously violent video games do desensitize people towards violence, there's tons of research on that as well as simple common sense, but the solution isn't to ban them. -

Unless you are referring to news in general, in which case you might have a valid point. -

Edited By: Popperhead Jul 20th, 2012 at 05:12 PMI love how u completely ignored my final line in that quote. You honestly dont think there is any correlation to being able to purchase a massive variety of weapons fairly easily and the murder rates across USA. Look at Canada bro why do u think we have such low rates. a big reason is we do not have guns readily accesible and concealed permits. The criminals will always find a way but its more the fact that more guns = more shootings periodOriginally Posted by TheWacoKidd
speaking of not being able to fix stupid... my god dude. yeah, it's that simple.
but in this case the guy is clearly to blame hes a fucking physco -
That was some 55 year old dude that was pissed off at the school board or whatever.
A lot of these recent school shooting have been carried out by young kids that are just completely nuts. This kid here was supposedly trying to imitate the bad guy from the Batman movie. That's why he was wearing a gas mask and bulletproof vest. -
He definitely meant the news in general. Now that coverage is so rampant with tragedies like this you can almost not help but become slightly desensitized to this kind of stuff until it hits so close to home.

They play lots of video games in Japan. Do they have mass murders that are blamed on Video Game violence? I cant think of anytime i have read or saw anything like this in Japan. -
I prob agree with this. I'm just emotional right now. Shits crazy.

Reason: niptuck and LS agree??? wtf -
I can't wait to hear what music this kid listened to so that we can blame that too

No. But they have kids dying from playing 40 hour marathon sessions and not even bothering to eat or drink. They take their gaming seriously over there.
The top gamers in Japan are past their primes at like 18. Shit is crazy. -
keep on spinning it, but your original post was incorrect.

I happen to think it's much more complex than that.

Different cultures respond differently to external stimulii; I think it would be hard to make any conclusion about it's effects here based on Japan.
