The logic is Melo would've caved and signed with the Nets because he's not skipping out on $20-30 million no matter how much he wanted to be a Knick...so they bit the bullet.

how are they going to have to sign ppl for peanuts bro? They have 2 max deals not 3. They will still have money for free agents. You've completely lost your mind. I hate the fucking knicks and I'm pissed this deal got done because not they're going to be good again.

again, this isn't entirely true. the knicks are one of the richest franchises in the NBA. they can (and will) buy up late first round picks. some of them will work out and some won't, but they're going to find cheap talent on rookie scale contracts.

will that push them over the top? no. but they are nowhere near as reliant on cheap FA signings as you're suggesting. -
I mean, the Knicks still need to play defense...
-
the first thing I thought of after hearing about the trade? The Grizzlies' playoff chances just got a lot better! Weeeeee

I'll take a step back and breathe.

You are correct, I am stating extremes to bolster my hate for this trade and my idea that it's terrible. However, I stick by the principle this does not make the knicks a contender, and isn't a seemless transition moving forward in respects to building a team. -
Edited By: STOPPER19 Feb 22nd, 2011 at 05:58 AMthis is such a great quote - tired of hearing all the knicks fans up here complain that they wont have felton, too many good guards in the league to not pull the trigger on this because youre worried about replacing him.Originally Posted by AMARTIN1181
If one more knicks fan posts how this was a bad deal for them my heads going to fucking asplode... wtf? They're not oging to win the title anyways? WTF this is your logic? I'm gonna lose it
respect the hell outta you.Originally Posted by Niceguy

sheep and i were trying to figure out who actually would want raymond felton. the answer is almost no one (and no contenders other than maybe atlanta). -
Did I say they lost defensive players or did I say they probably won't be winning shit anyway because they just added offense to a team that is .500 because they don't play defense.

Felton's not that good.
Battier to the Celtics and it's gfg -
"You can replicate the pieces that you lost, you can't replicate Carmelo Anthony" - Tim Legler

Good for the knicks, stars attract stars. If CP3 hops on in the offseason you've got a top 3-5 team next year. -

Yeah, Marc Stein wrote about it, but now people are saying that it's not going to happen. A Celtics fan can dream though -
Can they raise the ticket prices overnight?
ESPN just said the prices halve increased double for tomorrows game -

Today on espn was fruitful. I had completely forgot about melo bitching out in a fight a few seasons ago. Put your hand on 5'9'' robinson's neck, running back, then once the fight is over and marty collins is being held back, sucker punch him, run away again, then once marty collins is again being held back, get in a fighting posture like you're ready to go and he's the bitch for not coming after you. Damn, now I remember where my hate for melo comes from.

Was that Waco at :51?
-
Omg it looks just like him lol
-
lol that has to be him. Also I would trade a limb to get rid of that black and yellow song.
-
good fucking god that video and song sucks dick
-
Problem with that is they at most have 11 million, the only way to get a star would be to trade for him. Which isnt happening anytime soon, they have nothing to trade.

I liked Karl's comments on the trade in this article.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/s...=ESPNHeadlines
Denver Nuggets coach George Karl echoed a community's anguish Tuesday in seeing its hometown hero, who wanted to stay put, leave for the Big Apple along with the superstar who wanted out.
Karl said he was relieved the Anthony trade saga was finally over but, like several of his players, he lamented the loss of Billups, who led the Nuggets to the Western Conference finals two years ago after he was acquired from the Detroit Pistons.
"I can't deny that when the trade went down last night, I was kind of more sad than happy," Karl said after his team's short-handed shootaround Tuesday. "I think most of that sadness was because of Chauncey -- and A.C. a little bit, too."
"I feel energized and lifted and happy about a change, but as I said I thought when I was driving home last night I'd be a lot happier. When I sat there for a couple of hours, you know, I was more sad," Karl said.
And that had to do with losing Billups and Carter more then Melo.
"I mean, Melo gets what he wants," Karl said, adding that Williams and Balkman probably get more minutes in New York, too.
It's not as though Karl was trying to disrespect Anthony, even though the All-Star forward's desire to leave Denver hung over the team for eight months.
"I have tremendous respect for what he did here, what he gave us, what he gave me," Karl said. "I can't deny his personality and his skill level is a conflictive personality to a coach. And you know I thought we survived this year ... I think we survived it in a positive way. Now, was it an A-plus? Probably not. But I look at the six years that I had with Melo as a blessing for a coach. We won a lot of games, and we won a lot of those games because of Melo." -
lol song was horrible but i love the "stat and melo" w/ an ap stats book and the caramellos
