Is still just so **cking good!
That is all. -
I respectfully disagree. Every album they made after cutting their hair I find irrelevant.
-
Zach 3:16. 3 years, 16 posts. Too many imo. Irrelevant??
-
Didn't they cut their hair for Load or whatever? It's true that all albums precedding the Black Album are better but Black Album has some great tracks.
-
Everything they did up to and including Black was pretty fucking good and everything after was pretty fucking bad.
It is true that the Black album was a style change so they could get more mainstream coverage - the reason so many songs are 'normal' length... but that album does have some pretty awesome tracks.
Obviously nothing touches ...And Justice For All or Master of Puppets, and even Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning are epic... the garage day stuff has some impressive things as well. -
Metallica has not released an album since 1988.
-
Metallica sounds pretty damn cool on piano too:

Up to about 0:40 sounds like it could be the music to a Nintendo game from the 80s. If I fired up a game of Excitebike, RC Pro Am or Contra, I don't think I would even notice it playing in the background.
Cool vid, in any case. -
That is pretty cool.

Be it that Metallica is unbelievably bad, I find it hard to believe the album you're referring to is "still so fucking good", considering the album was never even approaching something worth listening to.

Metallica S&M CD 1/2 > *
-
Just b/c the Black album wasn't the heavy/thrash metal of the 4 previous albums doesn't mean it doesn't kick ass. I could listen to that album straight through all the time and never get tired ofit. I think Garage Days is good and some of the covers are great. I agree that St Anger was complete shit but it's respectable for a band to put out material they want and not what the ppl want to hear on the radio(similar to their first albums). Load/Reload was a different genre, but not terrible by any means. S&M was awesome imo. Death Magnetic kicks ass too.
-
the 2 preceding albums are better, but the black album is still full of amazing songs...
and death magnetic is not an epic fail like the 562345896 shit albums they released after the black album. -
All the Black album did was make it fashionable to listen to Heavy Metal. They cut their hair in 1996 along with other extremities to soften their image. They stopped drinking and started talking about their feelings. Even God (or a pissed off Roadie) punished them for changing their style by lighting Hetfield on fire during a concert with Guns N' Roses.

Blond, if you think anything Metallica did afer And Justince For All is remotely good compared to the older stuff you're the idiot. All the Black Album did was create a band that both sorority girls and construction workers with Trans Ams have in common. -
Thank you, Death Magnetic was solid as hell. "That was just your life" is straight from the 80's, love it.

Honestly from someone who has listened to Metallica for over a decade and at one point could play every song of theirs from the 80s on the guitar, the Black album is incredibly overrated. Not saying it is a bad album by any stretch, but compared to the likes of Master of Puppets, And Justice for All, Ride the lightning, etc. there just is no comparison it gets blown away. -
Ride The Lightning > Kill Em All > Master of Puppets >>>Garage Days Revisited >>>>> the rest

Here was my point. Black album came out in 1991...when they still had long hair....as if that has ANYTHING to do with how good an album is.Originally Posted by Z-Fresh

Actually I would rank Death Magnetic just after Justice and before Black album and beyond. Thats not a knock on the Black album...I didn't find it as good as the preceding ones, but I thought it was still awesome. They had to evolve. I hated that it made them so mainstream, but what do you want them to do? Keep making Master of Puppets over and over?Originally Posted by Z-Fresh

Thanks for the lesson tho....I've only been listening to them for 27 years
