I have been reading/watching videos on Microsoft's Surface Tablet which will be released later this month along with Windows 8. It looks like its going to be the most useful tablet out there. And should have a good shot at competing with the Ipad. I haven't had any use for a tablet since you really cant do to much on them, but this one is basically a fully functioning PC.

I love how they have a kickstand on the back and a magnetic cover with a fully functioning keyboard. Obviously fully functioning Windows OS is gonna be the biggest benefit to this device.
Anyone else gonna be getting one of these?
Besides being one of the worst presenter I have ever seen, and the device seems to freeze on him during presentation, this looks pretty sick.
I think the name "surface" is pretty terrible tho -
Whens the last time Microsoft released a product that killed anything but itself
-
this presenter is sooooo awful holy shit. idk if i'll buy one. i had an ipad but never used it so i sold it.

Not sure what your getting at, I will admit their marketing is no where near on par with Apples, but besides maybe their "zune" product i cant think of many recent ventures that haven't been successful. Look at the xbox!

Also as far as Windows phones I think we will be seeing more and more taking over the market share as Windows8 rolls out.
I doubt I will get a windows phone any time in the foreseeable future as I am more than happy with Android tho.
Will deff be picking up a "surface tablet". -
dude, but those commercials say bing is better than google at searching! (i watch most of my "tv" on hulu, and end up seeing that commercial all the fucking time... so annoying... #firstworldproblems)

Actually the first generation zune was so far ahead of anything apple had produced to that point until they came out with the 1st gen ipod touch. It failed, but not because of the device itself but rather an impossible marketing gap to overcome.

As a PC guy I feel safe saying iPad killer doesn't exist. They have a weird stranglehold on the market that I will never understand. They've created a culture supported by a following of brain dead followers willing to wait for days to buy a product that is already a step behind it's competition in terms of specs.
I own/like an iPhone and my wife own/loves her Mac book, but the hive mind of apple fanboys drives me crazy. -
Exhibit A. Dude clearly knows nothing of tech, but make claims like that. Did you get on the apple for the clear patent rip that was the iPod that saved the fking company? Probably not. Settlements are grand though. Enjoy your rectangular phone patent tho.

I dont think its gonna "kill" the Ipad since Apple has such a stranglehold on its fanboys through smart marketing. But i do think that Apple is once again being left in the dust with its outdated OS/Hardware and people with half a brain cell will be buying Windows based tablets in the near future as Windows8 becomes the standard.

Winner.

This. Only iOS devices I've had are an old iPod touch, and an iPhone4. And even just with those, I got incredibly tired of the bland UI after barely a year. I know it's very stable (because the UI is painfully closed-loop), but how long can they keep rolling out the same UI with next-to no changes?

In regards to this tablet. Windows 8 is basically built for mobile devices. So it should work great for tablets/phones (assuming they have the processing power to handle a full-blown OS...big if). I'm kind of worried about how Windows 8 will be on desktops and laptops, though. Seems like it may be a little too scaled down.

lol, not happening, nor even close. Apple is on a short list of companies with the strongest brand loyalty customer followings few companies experience.

This is true, due to the fact that this country/world is filled with so many idiots who cant think/create for themselves and fall pray to smart marketing campaigns. Sad world we live in, so much potential with technology, and so many closed minded lemmings running around I-tarding their lives away.
