How good is this coach. After what Dre. Bly said yesterday after the game the media. He then makes him apologize to the media the next day. Class act. NFL needs more of.
-
According to the Twitter page of 49ers' beat writer Matt Maiocco, wide receiver Michael Crabtree will stay in San Francisco and work while the rest of his teammates get away during the bye week. Coach Mike Singletary was asked why Crabtree is staying in town, and he replied that Crabtree "already had his bye week."
-
It hurts to think that the Redskins could have hired Singletary as their head coach when Gibbs left (though promoting Gregg Williams would have been the best option imo). Fucking Snyder and his errand boy Cerrato.
I guess I should be happy we are not stuck with Tom Cable. -
I love how Singletary was calling time outs at the end of the game yesterday during a 45-10 blowout because he felt his team "deserved to keep getting hit" and then made Bly come out to apologize for being such an idiot during Singletary's press conference today.
-
Yeah it's all great.
Till he burns out his players. -
People said he would make an excellent head coach for many years but he kept getting passed by. The sad thing is, he'll be getting crucified by the media and fans alike for his coaching techniques if and when the team goes on a losing streak.
-
love him as a coach. the nfl needs more "old schoolers"
takes vernan davis out of a game because he wasnt trying hard enough and makes dre bly apologize for being a dumbass.
and takes his pants off during half time. guy is awesome -
I don't have any allegiances for west coast teams, but damn watching this cat makes me want to have 49ers as my 2nd fave team.
-
No, him constantly being such a hardass. I love it. NFL players are bitches nowadays and deserve to be brought down.
However it's been shown that it doesn't work in today's league. Case in point. Tom Coughlin, hardass, giants look terrible, last year of his contract he eases up, giants bink a superbowl. -
worst argument ever, Really you are gonna say the fucking giants what the fuck?

I'm sure the retirement of the locker room cancer before that season started didn't help the team one bit.
-
Both teams started being terrible after the 2000-2001 season.

Tom Coughlin and Mike Singletary are similar, old-school, style coaches.
Tom Coughlin had more success once he eased up a bit.
How is that the worst argument ever? -
sick sample size tho

Edit... worst argument ever -
People are thinking I'm saying Singletary is a bad coach, which I'm not.
I am saying at some point he will have to ease up, or he'll burn out his players. -
well Coughlin made the playoffs every year except the 1st year there

Worst Argument EVER! -
mike singletary is the definition of a good football coach. the guy is awesome, i am jealous the 49ers have him.
-
I would want my son to play for Mike Singletary.
That's the highest praise I can give a coach. -
I may wind up looking like an ignorant asshat here because I don't really know shit about Tom Coughlin....but I would assume Mike Singletary would get a little more respect from his players as being a legitmate hardass. I mean he was the heart and soul of the '85 bears defense for fuck sake. How much harder can you get?
-
Yes, thats why i let u finish but Niceguy had the worst argument of ALL TIME

actually, niceguy shares the same sentiment as a sect of the Baylor fan base, who obv follows Mike's coaching career closely, as we almost hired him twice but he was asking for so much and had little experience... anyways these ppl are concerned that his gimmicks like pulling his pants down in the locker room and his hard-nosed approach will wear thin over time, especially if they start losing and when you consider how coddled athletes are these days... now, Mike is obv a man that commands a great deal of respect and this may not turn out to be the case, but to simply dismiss niceguy as a moron or say he has a terrible argument is just wrong, if you ask me...
do you guys know that Singletary had an amazing 662 tackles in his Baylor career, including 34 in one game vs Houston? dude was a machine... -
WTF has the OT come too when Waco is sounding calm and collective, rather than pissed off and reasonable?

well this makes sense because the coaches that are not "hard asses" are so safe when they start losing.

His appoach will weed out the lames, I don't see a guy like Teddy Bruschi quitting on Mike. He will find terrific value in his players imo, his approach will not be fooled by fantastic ability, he'll put football players on the field.
