I've recently turned 20 and I'm now feeling old. I remember my days as a kid, living care free, spending all of my time skateboarding. It was a huge part of my life until I got heavily consumed by poker at age 16. All day every day just wandering the streets finding spots to skate and trouble to make. Here's a video I have of myself when I was a youngin in 2006 (footage from 2004-2006ish).

Would like to hear what everyone else remembers being passionate about as an early teen -
I spent all day everyday wandering the streets since I was 8 years old. Rode my bicycle everywhere and played basketball for hours most days until my early teens. When I got a drivers license I got into getting high and snowboarding. Started riding a couple times a week. Now I am 27, still wander the streets and still live pretty care free. I still feel like a kid
Poker can consume you and become a pretty shitty hobby imo. If you take it seriously it can makes you anti social, is ridiculously frustrating and stressful. I think there are better hobbies. But it's funny, if I go to Vegas and drop $1500 playing poker my Mom will think it was a waste of money. If I go snowboarding in Whistler and drop $1500 she will think it was money well spent. They're both hobbies but perceived very differently by a lot of people. But I've never been snowboarding and came back with more money than when I left -
20? 20??? Is this some kind of sick joke?

Edited By: MattElsarelli Oct 14th, 2011 at 01:53 PMI tried to snowboard alot as well, but growing up in vegas made that pretty hard. The only mountain with lifts within an hour drive has a pretty short season, and It's lame and small. I still got out there alot during the winter season though. I hope I still feel like a kid at 27 also.Originally Posted by zeppelinzoso16

Well I can't really say I regret letting poker take over my life. It did make me anti social for awhile, I stopped hanging out with alot of the friends I had cause I didn't have the time to. It caused alot of issues with the gf I HAD at the time (#dodgedbullet). But over all it has done way more good than bad. Was ballin at age 18 with 5 figs in the bank picking up all the ice cream truck tabs with my play mates.Originally Posted by zeppelinzoso16

I know, people really have to stop being teenagers. It fucking sucks that it works like this. -
Once you discover alcohol your life will do a 180 on you again

Friends and life experiences > Money in the bank

No, they are right. 20 is super young and it only works like that if you let it -
lol, I wasn't the most well behaved kid in high school. I spent most of all the summer breaks drinking and partying. Older sister alcohol connections ftw.
I can't wait to be 21 though.
This is true, I've just been bumming myself about the whole not being a teenager anymore. Do you remember feeling like this at all at 20??? -
Man, 20 was the good old days. A much happier and simpler time. I fondly reminisce about the excellence of 20 quite often.
signed, 23 year old. -
I would kill a million cute cuddly puppies to be 20 again you ungrateful fuck
-
Do yourself a favor and go crush as much young ass as humanly possibl over the next few years yourself in 10 years will be very grateful

OP, I'm 37 and having the time of my life. I always hung with an older crowd, and they kept telling me "it gets better". I couldn't comprehend, I was 20 and kicking ass at Syracuse University, how could it better?????
It does, trust me. -
Just wait until you hit 23! all down hill from there

i'm 25 and just started downhill skating last spring. i dont know if you're one of the skaters who has a problem with longboarding, but i'd highly suggest checking it out. just wear a helmet.
-
never miss the old days. sometimes i lament the large amounts of sex i neglected, but i never want to go back to skating, teenage, punk band, etc... I have way more knowledge now and would never give that up; however, if i could go back and retain the same knowledge..... fuck mate i'd definitely take that prop.

This thread is one huge fucking level isn't it? You feel old at an age before you can legally drink? Wait till you hit 30 and can feel every cold front coming through via the pain in your knees from surfing, snowboarding and skating your whole life. Then when you hit 35 you wish you felt like you did when you were 30 because now your back feels like your knees did when you were 30 only now your knees hurt when you walk up any kind of elevated hill.
Now let's talk hangovers. You think you get them now? JUST WAIT!!! I could drink a bottle of Jack at age 20 and be up at 6:00am feeling like a million bucks now 5 beers feels like a hole in my fucking head.
Girls at age 20. THEY ARE ALL HOT!! 90% of the women you hang out with have perfect bodies because they are 20. Wait to see what happens to those asses and tits in 10 years. Seeing tits only hang down to a belly button and ass that goes no further down to half the thigh is fucking hot to me these days!
Fuck you OP. Seriously, fuck you. -
You sound miserable.

gotta disagree pretty strongly on this one. Good friends are nice, but lol friends.... in the end dollars go a lot farther. Like you can buy a house and shit (or plane tickets)

oh, and 19 was one of my favorite ages. 20 i don't remember. Wait til your fuckin 30 then you'll really feel it.
and poker is great if you make money at it. Try not to work as long as possible. Working sucks, even when you're making bank. Traveling and playing a card game for money sounds good to me and i run a successful business. People who say poker sucks usually suck at poker or don't understand it. Everything you do sucks if you are a sucky person. Just live the dream as long as you can and vary your pussy intake. Nothing better than having carefree sex and no kids. -
20? you haven't even had your good old days yet.
