    there should really just be a moderate party that doesnt like raising taxes but also understands it may happen and that its good for rich people to invest and for poor people to be given opportunity and try to find a way to do both and not to pander to all the idiots in the country.

    When people say stupid things we attach their statements to the groups they belong to if we have a pre-existing dislike for that group. If we like the group they belong to then we attempt to separate them from the group or excuse the statement.

    I would bet that you disliked republicans before this guy made this statement.
