I'm not going to continue to argue with you about this after this response. I will say that I work in the field of adoptions and there are lots of couples out there trying to adopt infants, and the cost has become prohibitive for a lot of couples. I do not think it's out of the question that there would be homes for these additional children.

Just b/c you meet families everyday that want to adopt babies doesn't mean there will be enough families that are able and willing to adopt the obscene increase if abortion was outlawed. We don't even need to get into what the punishment you see fit for the black market it would create. Stop letting your heart cloud your judgment. I would love every child to have a chance, but that's just not a realistic desire. I'd also love to see world peace, the abolishment of religion, the end of world hunger, and everyone to have clean running water, electricity, and a home. Maybe someday the some of these wants will come true, but we are FAR from even attempting it. Even out feeble attempts at righting these wrongs does more harm than good with the current state of the world. -

This law is on the books, prior to 2011 there was no law on the books which addressed rapists' paternal rights. This map just shows a bunch of states that do not explicitly restrict parental rights for rapists. Not that shocking that it wouldn't be addressed since there were many other ways to remove parental rights besides rape convictions. I bet most of the states already have laws that apply based upon any assault or violent crime.Originally Posted by jay_bear
